So im a pretty new char with only 2.7M skill points but i would like u to comment my current setup if i should even try soloing lvl 4 misisons alone or i should just totelly forget abut it.I made the basics of this setup on the dmg so i dont have to tank much however i dont know how it would work in the reality and i dont want to risk losing it so thts why im aksing ur opinion guys.

HIGH Slots
  • 8 Tachyon Modulated Heavy Energy Beams (the best named ones equivalent the tech 2 things in stats)

MED Slots
  • 4 x Cap Recharges II

LOW Slots
  • 1 x Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer

  • 1 x DMG Control II

  • 2 x BETA Reactor Control Cap Power Relay

  • 3 x True Sansha Heat Sink

RIGS
  • 3 x Ancillary Current Router(otherwise i wouldnt have enough powergrid for the guns)

MAX Capregen is 75 Guns have 65 capneed the other parts are the reps, hardeners etc
MAX Capneed is around 106

I also made an alternative setup for tanking so im also posting it down here so u guys could tell me which one should i rather use/make for lvl 4 misisons solo.
HIGH Slots
  • 8 Dual Heavy Modulated Energy beam(the weakest large turret thingie)

MED Slots
  • 4 x Cap Recharger II

LOW Slots
  • 2 x Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer

  • 3 x N-Type mission specific armor hardeners

  • 2 x Beta Reactor Cap Power Relay

RIGS
  • 3 x Auxiliary Nano Pump(with penalty the faction armor repairers repair 1270) each

This can tank the 2 reps forever if i dont shoot since each has a 37.5 capneed/sec so the extra 13 is because of the guns
MAX Capregen is 75
MAX Capneed is around 96

Since you've not had much experience (but strangely own an Amarr Navy LAR), your best chance is to tank over gang. Tachyons would be ok if they didnt take up a lot of grid, and further if you landed sever 10s of km out of the spawns.
As it is you'd better use a smaller gun (megabeam/megapulse). All cap rechargers in mids is a good idea. Lows: lar, 6x active hardeners (depending on mission rat type), dcu not really important in missions.

I dont know whats the point in pulses because of the lack of the range and BS-BC class ships usually orbit way more than 30km u
I have some personal experience on lvl 4 soloing tho i used to sit in a Raven as Caldari but rerolled and im pretty inexperienced with this.

If i remember correctly i had something like:
8x best named megapulse
4x t2 cap recharger
LAR, 3x kinetic +3x thermal hardeners (vs Serps)
(rigs were not as cheap back then, tho i'd have used 3 ccc)

Ofc range might be a problem, tho rarely did i face it, in the form of Core Admirals orbiting at 50km, Microwave doesnt deal much damage and Radio is out of the question... come to think of it, my drones did most of the work there. Serpentis cruisers and BCs tho dont orbit that far.

but how the hell could u kill targets further than 30km with pulses ?Most BS-BC class ships are further than 30km

Heh, used microwave with good support skills (sharpshooter 5/trajectory analysis 4) and good drone skills. Fallof is terrible with lasers, but that tiny bit of increase helps.

Meh i have Sharp lvl 4 Trajectory lvl 3 so i guess im sticking with those beams. But u still didnt answer which setup would be better ?
The tanker or the DPS-er ?
(In my Raven i think i have soloed around 15 lvl 4 missions alone tho not the hardest ones ofc)

Raven is another story altogether and irrelevant to you question.
Basically, there are very few missions where you can snipe with big beam weapons like tachyons, Mordus Headhunters is one off the top of my head.
Otherwise, for most others, especially vs Angels and Serps (who are faster than you iirc) you'll be better of with tank and lower DPS.

Large Energy Turret V, Sharpshooter V, Motion Prediction V -----> Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L loaded.

Hits about 45km out, I think, with really good damage.
Motion Prediction is needed to train Large Pulse Specialization, Sharpshooter gives you the optimal range... they are rank 2 skills (so 13-15 days depending on attributes, to train from lvl 0 to lvl 5), but Large Energy Turret V will take you a while.

Dual heavy beams on a Geddon would be a better bet. You'd still have plenty of range for sniping rats yet also be able to run a dual rep tank. Geddon works better in this instance compared to the Abaddon. Abaddon is better with pulse however... which is what I use for lvl4s.

I wouldn't use tachs except for gate camping or fleet ops.

i use mega pulse on my abbadon. 1 tracing computer + infrared and you can kill these 36km orbiter easy. no need for microwave (i only load microwave if stuff is like 50+ away)

i don't think armar navy lar + 1 damage control + not bs lvl 5 will be enough to tank most lvl4 missions. you will need some hardeners

What she said. You'll need at least 2 hardeners on an Abaddon when doing missions...1 for each damage type. In some cases you have to tank more damage types, so be prepared to sacrifice at least another slot for that.

hah

8x best named megabeam (amarr navy gamma L)

1x tracking comp
3x cap recharger

1x LAR
2x mission spec hardies
2x heatsink
2x capacitor power relay

2x CCC
1x +grid rig (dont remember name)

5x hammerhead

That setup will tank **all missions**, and put out 500 dps (without drones) at 40km. It will hit most stuff down to 20km, anything else use the drones for.

**all sansha/blood missions, as long as you dont mess up too badly. 11k armor is a good buffer if you do :P **

Here is the setup that i usualy use when doing missions
8x Dual Modulated Heavy Energy Beam I
4x Cap Recharger II
2x LARII 4x hardeners 1x CPR II
3x CCC

It has less dps than usual, but It can permatank any lvl 4 easily. There are only one or two missions where you cant just get a full zone agro. Other than that this thing is easy mode.

Highs: 8 MP II's

Mid: 4 Cap Rechargers II

Lows: 2 LAR II + 3/4 specific hardeners + 1/2 HS II

Rigs: 3 CCC's

Drones: 5 Medium scout + 5 light scout

If you have isks and dont want to spend to much time doing the mission use Scorch L + Standard + Multifrequency. This setup will cover 99% of all the level 4 missions, only the hardest ones, like worlds collide or angel extravaganza will need some adapts.

Thank u guys for all the replies however atm i have my gunnery skills on 4 so learning them to 5 would be insane much so i cannot use tech2 energy turrets yet so i guess i should stick with Dual Modulated Energy Beams right ?
