Well, their technology is not that advanced. We have cyno generators, huge Battleships and warp drives which make you travel faster than the speed of light. But for some reason its not possible to install a little glass window in a station so that you could look out. |

Have you seen what the marines wear in starcraft? Each one has a robotic suit around them that protects their outermost extremities by providing a robotic hand that acts by the actual hand that controls it from inside the suit. They need breathable air for days on end with them, ammunition to be able to shoot for most of that time and most likely some food and basic medical aid for when and if a break is possible. As well as drugs to stave off sleep for the entire time if need be. |

On the original topic. Given that each humanoid takes up several cubic meters, they're in some kind of transport habitat.
Which makes since, given the ability to shove stuff from hard vacuum right into the ship... I kind of wonder if the holds are even pressurized. |

My post was on topic. Holds definitely have sections for live cargo. |

If you read the topic, it got off on a little tangent. Plus, though mine's timestampped two minutes after yours, I started posting before you finished. Was gonna look up the various live cargos and find out what they took in space. Then decided I didn't care enough. :P |

Amazing. you sound like you know this from first hand knowledge. Do you live in a pod?
Pure hypothesis. Surely it makes sense, though? Rather than bolting something the size of a fridge to your brain, you bolt it to your truck-sized capsule instead and then run a cable to an implanted interface device in your brain.
EDIT: scratch that. I reckon Daelana's got it. Epic jumbo-sized pakaging, complete with the surgeon who installs it for you. but...
Quote: You seam to be thinking logically, please explain why an implant would be so large thousands of years into the future.
Because they don't have the technology to make it any smaller, yet.
Several pieces of lore mention in-passing non-pilots with neural implants, in some cases better than what we've got. This points toward the implants being fully implanted in your meat-brain. The 1m3 of total space is probably an auto-doc that does the whole surgery thing. Thusly, the "Plug In" option instead of "find your nearest surgical facility". That, and 10,000 actual size +5 implants in a shuttle's cargobay? Nothx. |

That shuttle + dessy/anti-frig gate camp = yes, please? On the marine note again: They take up two meter's cubed... While you could fit a couple people in a single meter cubed, it ain't gonna be comfortable... So, it's likely one guy in a cryo-pod type deal, with life-support and gear. I can see that reaching a fair weight... |

The average world war II division would require 600-700 tons of supplies each day in order to keep fighting. That's 600000 or 700000 KG of stuff to divy up between 10000 men or 600 to 700 KG for each soldier per day. And this is just to keep fighting it deoesn't include weight of vehicles or personal equipment. For example on D Day the americans planed to disembark 100000 troops, 14000 vehicles and 14500 tons of supplies or 145 KG of supplies for each soldier (Which wasn't expected to last for long after D-Day). Add to that the average 45 KG a D-Day soldier carried and the weight of the vehicles.
So a marine taking up 1 Ton of cargo space isnt't that exagerated. |

The only logical explaination given for the implant size was the box theory. It comes in a big box. |

Obviously the soldiers are carrying a couple of cartons of sigs, and as we know 0.2 m^3 of tobacco weighs 2500 kg. |

Originally by: Sir Scorpion Well I don’t have the exact numbers but, normally a combat solder viewed from logistic command point of view can be much heavier than 1000kg.
b/c they factor in how much equipment thy will use during their operation, now in today’s world that means the solder + equipment and combat gear+ as well as clothes and personal stuff.
Now after the war comes the more accurate calculations, and that is how much supplies where used during the solders combat life during the conflict.
In many cases the numbers can be way over 1000kg. so since this marine wont be seeing home any time soon I think 1000kg is very low
Thats not true! and not correct! unless they carrying boxes of kit to near by barracks! Weapons and Equipment could go upto 150kg in REAL life! 1000KG you need a truck! Also with this day and age there armour and weapons should be light for fast movment but strong. |

I doubt they can be much stronger and much lighter without making the cost become unfeasible except for the elite. If a marine has the strength and endurance to hold a weapon of a said weight for an indefinite period there is not much point to keep decreasing the weight. |

It's easy.
Gallente bring their fine wines, cheeses from around the galaxy, "Biggest Poets of the 23k Century" book collection and a personal drone.
Caldari bring a rocket launcher and every rocket imaginable, as well as their personal collection of rare isks. That look like regular isks, but are rare 'cause the argument is defended by the rocket launcher.
Amarr bring their "Outdoors Survival Kit", which includes things such as an inflatable mattress, fluffy pillows, cumfy chair, holy books, a plasma tv, toilet paper and a toilet.
Minmatar just bring their Supersized Superior MacGyver Kit, fully equipped with goods as gum, ductape, pieces of string, 10kg Minmatar Army Knife and lint. |
