Now, come on, folks. It's not like this is any big shock. I mean, do you really expect sound decision making from people who give these two "news" items equal weight?

The most surprising thing might be, why didn't we do this sooner? We have finally added everything you need to show that you're an EVE fan while you're drinking with your friends. The store additions consist of an Eve Beer glass, Eve Beer mug and Eve Shot glass.

For our younger players, you may of course use these glasses to drink soft drinks or similar, alcohol is not required.

closing trading and ccg forums
reported by CCP Wrangler | 2007.08.21 12:24:43 | NEW
With the contract system and market in game we have decided to close down the trading forums. They were created as a solution to a problem which is now resolved with the contracts system and it is now time to take all trading back in game. These forums have been locked for new threads but you will be able to finish the current trades. The market forums (Sell Orders, Want Ads and Trades, trades and more trades) will be completely removed on Monday two weeks from now, 2007.09.03, giving everyone enough time to finish existing trades. We have also added the Character and Timecode Bazaar forum, which is for selling characters and timecodes only.

Since we now have the CCG website with forums we will be closing down the CCG forums, they will however remain in as read only forums as a form of archive. Instead you will be able to use the CCG website forums to discuss the CCG.

There may be some issues with replying to existing threads in the trade forums, this is caused by caching and should be cleared up in a while.

Please discuss these forum changes here.

CCP, please stop drinking and start thinking!

Im not one to condone forum terrorism at all but if there is no forum for advertising sales and services, lets all just post in the general forums if it cant be done using the contract system or market. (But please no *****ing and spamming lets keep all that in this thread)

I mean what are mods going to do, tell you to post your services and adverts in the trade forums....oh wait.

Interesting, it seems the want ads forum is still open http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=579870
I wonder what would happen if I tried to sell something in the general discussion forum...

It would get moderated and locked. Please don't make the situation worse. -Rauth Kivaro(mods@ccpgames.com)

I see, fair enough but I was told that the forums are still open. This is actually incorrect new posts cant be made.

It;s obvious why CCP didn't consult on this before they announced it, because they knew what the reaction would be and that NO ONE would support it, because there is no real justification for it. It's politics.

I remember someone coming in Jita local a while ago asking questions about the sell forums and that he was working on overhauling that section. I specifically mentioned that I personally use that forum a lot and enjoy being able to read it when I don't have access to Eve. It is also easier to use than the contract system and adds another dimension to the game.

Most people in local agreed .

Removing those forums is not a good idea in fact it's a flat out bad idea imo.

One other thing that I do not understand is why CCP continually removes things that the majority of people (or ones that use a particular feature) love and they do so without any kind of say on the part of the people and also fail to reply to the questions raised on specific points raised in threads that debate their changes?

You, CCP make this game less enjoyable when you do thing's like this continually.

I had a quick thought, about super carriers, T2 BPOs and the like - Most people prefere to use a third party, so there is no scamming - how would this work under contracts CCP? Give the third party 30 billion isk to buy a mothership for you? er...No thanks. How can you guys SERIOUSLY think this is good for the game? Confused

Traders: We've got something to sell!
CCP: Use contracts. STFU noob.
Traders: But we can't contract this! And it makes uber-isk!
CCP: Start your trading own website. And STFU Noob.
Traders: But I want to use an official OOG forum that has some ounce of credibility!
CCP: Go shoot something and STFU noob.

SWG *DEV* From what Im reading they are thinking of changing their mistake.

About Competition I wouldn't hold your breath there are some Sci -Fi games in the making "Just like this one"

EVE doesn't need to change things, they just need to stop adding more!

so was this move done to nerf Supercapital Sellers?

Never mind whether you think the contract system is wonderfull or what... you cannot auction stuff unless its in your hanger in station
and you cannot dock with a supercap so was this done specificly to Nerf Supercap Sellers?

Are you guys @ CCP just trying to come up with the worst ideas for fun, and the winner gets free beer or something?

Pushing your customers to 3:rd party sites is not the way to retain that lovely control you like to have.

Bottom line is they made this decision KNOWING what an uproar it would cause. That's why they didn't give it so much as a dev blog or a real discussion with the community on alternatives. That said, they will be THRILLED if Chribba's forum takes over and becomes the preferred trade channel. It removes from CCP any responsibility to police transactions, maintain the forum, and (GASP) fix the contracts system.

What else could they do but get behind Chribba, who already has name recognition and a proven track record of service to the community?

In short: bravo Chribba, boo CCP.

Hahahhaaa, I just noticed we can edit old thread first posts and rename the title, then bump the thread to make a new sale thread. At least for a little while.

Please don't do this, as your thread will be locked and removed, and you'll receive a warning and/or other action against your forum account. Please refrain from making a bad situation worse. -Rauth Kivaro (mods@ccpgames.com)

This is CCP's response to an outcry from the people who pay them to play? Whatever Happened to "The customer is always right"?

I think that CCP is out of line to basically say "someone has taken their time to make their own forum, so just stfu and use it, stop hassling us"..wtf?
