We are looking for some volunteers to help us with the testing of the new Mac and Linux Clients.

So if you have good technical skills and would like to help us with this project please post a reply here.

Please note that we may not take everyone that posts in reply to this message.

More details will be sent to those selected when they are finalized.

I have access to several Intel Macs at home, and I would gladly spend the few hours a day I'm on EvE tooling around with the Mac client. What's the emote for "enthusiastic"?

Also, I'm taking the Apple Hardware Certification courses, so I have access to dev diagnostic and debugging tools. For what it's worth.

I run a linux server farm at work and have done development in linux as well. EVE is the only thing holding me back from running nothing but linux at home.

I'd be happy to test a Linux client on various distributions on a range of low to mid spec machines. Anything to help this happen. I run a few different distributions: Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora and Slackware.

I've written my own kernel modules for Linux, and am equally comfortable both programming for and using Linux, Windows, HP-UX, Palm, Mac 7..X, and other platforms, so I know a fair bit about the potential cross-platform issues that may arise, from both sides of the coin.

GM Ginger has my email address from the EVE Corp League rules team, or you can contact me however else you see fit.

Edit:

I use the iMac Core 2 Duo, Debian i686 and i686_x64 (rebuilt kernels).

I also kinda sorta help the guys at Fink get wine on OS X. (Current maintainer, but I am slacking a bit.) Fink brings a TON of open source stuff from linux / unix / *BSD.

I'm no Linux guru, but I am more than willing to help out.

My machine is currently running SUSE 10.2, Ubuntu 7.10 Gusty Tribe 4 beta, and LinuxMint (Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty derivative) with room to spare to test any other configurations.

OK, first off, thank you all for volunteering

This thread will remain open till Downtime Friday 17th August, so if you wish to volunteer you can still do so.

You will all receive an email at the listed email address of the account associated with the characters posted in this thread. It will ask for more details on what machines configurations and OS version's you have and what area's of the game you are most familiar with. The email will also explain more about how we will be approaching the testing thus giving you a chance to withdraw if it does not suit.

We will then use this to generate our 'tester' list.

After that you will receive another email with all the details and instructions you will need.

Well count me in. As one of the linux motor mouths since that first post by Hellmar back in the day, I'd say my qualifications as a "tester" have been more than proven. heh heh.

2 primary testing machines (one older, one newer) primarily an Ubuntu user, but would test with other distros as well.

Oh, and if this helps, Emerald transgaming member. 2 years of cedega usage.

Sorry on the mac front, but hey, I'm a pc kinda' person. Very Happy
