It crashed constantly, underperformed, and was generally unreliable. He almost smashed his computer after a few weeks and reinstalled XP, and then reverse-engineered the DirectX 10 code and altered his version of Windows XP to work with it.

Better resource management (It doesn't use 1gb of ram, don't let screenshots tell you that, it "reserves" the memory for use with programs, the OS itself uses less than XP). Indexing is fantastic, and networking with Vista is a dream.

"Reverse engineering DirectX 10" is a very big job- the Wine guys are still working at it (the guys who successfully reverse engineered DX1 through DX9 for Linux), and Falling Leaf Systems have only got a highly dodgy alpha release. Unless he happens to be a DirectX source developer working for Microsoft, I doubt he's telling the truth
