Dell has a new laptop series out for small business customers called the
Vostro. I've checked them out since the network I manage is all Dell equipment. While they are not what we need as they have no docking capabilities, they would make fantastic gaming machines. They are competitively priced, come with NO CRAPWARE (yay!) and at least the two higher end ones have a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card available. That card is WAY more than you need to play EVE, even with the proposed graphics updates due out next year.
So if I was in the market for a gaming laptop, and didn't want to break the bank buying an Alienware monster, I'd probably go with a Vostro system. It's basically the same system as the Inspiron, but in a more durable chassis, and no crufty crapware bloat added to it.
The only drawback is that the high end one only comes with Vista (bleah!) but I would imagine that you can always format and install XP (or better yet, Ubuntu!).
