Logging off, leaving, docking. I hop in local and within ten minutes the ships on the scanner drop from half a dozen to zero.

Get rid of local. Nao.

The thing is, I don't even have my 'pirate' character anywhere near the system lol. This character (murder one) has positive sec, and I'm not in some threatening ship (Curse, Blasterthron, etc.).

But as soon as I hit local, poof, everyone's gone. Really annoying.

Looks like you're not the only one with a scanner! Razz

So what's that have to do with local?

Although I do agree, it'd be a much better game without local.

The thing with removing local would be people leaving ships in systems, meaning once u eneter u think you got a ship only to waste time tracking it at a POS with no one in it >.<, but ye I feel the pain especially while roaming 0.0, all those damn macro's/ratting BS's that could be mineeee!!!

Possible solution to local, try makeing it region wide?? (could create a rather large bit of spam) but i'm willing to trade channel spam for more killsTwisted Evil

Er...you failed to mention you were in a cloaker. Haha!

Although chances are either someone saw on their scanner when you came in the gate and were recloaking from the jump cloaking (I often do 360 degree scans when local jumps and catch many recons on scan that way) or even being decloaked by asteroids if you were warping to belts (the bug where if you're going slow enough coming out of warp and pass any obejcts it will decloak you even if you're still warping).

Or they hard their own eyes on your gate.

Your evidence might not be perfect, but yeah, local needs to go.

I was going to troll the crap out of you as you are, by public spectable, tried and found guilty of being a self-publicising idiot. However it's practically impossibly to resist the urge of giving advice to 'One Of the Elite'. infact, we should all feel humbled to be in such a position, and so should everyone else who isn't 'Elite' flying a blasterthon with maxed everythig skillz doing 1337 dps.

It appears youa re trying to use a covert ship to locate / lock down targets for a gang. Well, your cover is blown. The main advantage cov-ops pilots shoudl ahve is being totally unknown. Thi sis why Cov-ops ships > force recon ships. The urge to fit guns, ***** your way onto killmails, and generally 'be known' is greatly reduced. Most of the scouts i know, their characters have never been in the same corp as their main, never appear on killmails and should rarely be seen in the same system together, and certainly not regularly.

it sounds like you've bene working one area too long, peopel can tell you're coming, and log off rather than die to you.

How about, instead of whining about 'Disgusting skummy Carebears' you improvise, adapt, and overcome? Sell your cahr and buy another one with similar skills, and use it smarter this time?

When you have spelling errors in your post while trying (poorly) to talk down to someone, it makes you look like a complete and total imbecile. And since you probably don't know what an imbecile is, and obviously arn't intelligent enough to be able to operate a web browser and use common websites like google.com or dictionary.com, I've taken the liberty of including the definition for you:

im·be·cile /ˈɪmbəsɪl, -səl or, especially Brit., -ˌsil/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[im-buh-sil, -suhl or, especially Brit., -seel] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

2. a dunce; blockhead; dolt.
–adjective 3. mentally feeble.
4. showing mental feebleness or incapacity.
5. stupid; silly; absurd.
6. Archaic. weak or feeble.

Back to the point at hand: you're an idiot. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. What is all this rambling about 'getting onto killmails'? Huh? I fly around in a max skilled Covert Ops 99% of the time. What the hell are you talking about?

The 'ship at a POS' issue exists anyway. I find tons of ships sitting at POSes all over the place. I just note them down and continue on.

Speaking as a carebear....if someone named 'murder one' appeared on local, regardless of his sec status, I'd probably find a quick way out of system too. That's without lurking the boards religiously too, so I already know your rep. :)

I have found that leaving my character logged in and docked or cloaked for long periods of time while afk will lull many of the carebears into going back to their routines. Then when I am actually ready to play they have since forgotton about me.

hehe. Nice.

It was early, I don't do spelling in the mornings. What's your excuse?

ps. Sort of calling people names that try to give you advice, have you considered at least considering it? It's pretty obvioud that alot of people recognise you - so... erm... what to do. I jsut don't know.

I've got a completely unknown cov-ops pilot with a nice macro-miner name that's never left noobie-corp, with a 0.1 sec rating, and local is normally fine when he arrives. As you point out though, my inability to spell at 8am in the morning neatly proves that this is a ridiculous concept and i should, erm, go back to WoW... i can't tell.

pps. You Again?

I tend to do this if only to add a little more stress to their playing time, and like you said, to lull them into a false sense of security.
