If you want to do PvE only and have no intention of getting into PvP anytime soon, then your best cruiser is the Caracal and training missile skills. You should be able to hit from 110Km+ using a Caracal and heavy missiles.

Nope, no problem with training cruisers from other races - only thing is it might take a bit longer if you ahev the prerequisites trained for your race only.
Also, consider what 'secondary' skills you have trained - e.g. if your character is skilled in armour tanking, note that caldari ships suit shield tanking a lot better.

Moa is a pretty good Rail boat if you want long range sniping. Ugly tho Shocked

TBH, PVE-wise, missiles FTW Razz

first to clear something up guardian-vexor its not going to happen buddy, I do think the last one was destroyed, (I could be wrong) a few months ago, and you can't get them anymore.

first we just can't tell you what you like, or a ship we think you may like eve doesn't work that way. We can tell you good ways to fit a ship, but not the ship to fit.

I would say try to join a empire player corp, this will be the easiest way to learn what you like and don't like. Also, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! remember empire is only 10% of the game, mission running and what ever you do in empire is only 10% of what this game has to offer, so after you build some skills up join a 0.0 corp..

Your thank me.

Of all the ships you mentioned the Guardian Vexor is the best. I don't even bother to lock targets when I do level 2 missions with it. Warp to the mission point. Throw out Drones. Read the forums. Scoop drones. Collect reward.

If you only want to do PVE then you need to go the missile route, the sooner you start training for Caldary missile boats, the sooner you wil have your CNR.

Harbinger

Okay, so I know it's a battlecruiser, not a cruiser, but seriously. that ship will mercilessly pummel its way through level 3's and below, and handles very well for level 4 as well.

same goes for all the tier2 Battlecruisers though, tbh.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, it's a multiplier for how long the skill takes to train.
You can't raise it, and wouldn't want to :)

Guardian Vexor is still pretty rare I think, so if you're a complete noob it may be a bit out of your price range. Caldari are the best for PvE, so I'd go for the Moa (or better, a Caracal)

Skill Rank number basically tells you how long it takes to train that skill. A Rank 1 skill might take an hour for a particular level, and a Rank 8 one might take a few days. So low Rank is good. And unfortunately you can't change it.

The rank of the skill is what determines how long the skill takes to train.

IE a rank 1 skill needs 256,000 skillpoints to hit lvl 5, whereas a rank 2 skill needs 512,000 skill points for lvl 5.

So obviously the rank 2 skill will take longer than the rank 1. And no you can't raise the rank, and neither would you want to :D

I think you've got the wonrg end of the preverbial stick. The rank of a skill never changes, EVER.

A rank 1 skill will take X amount of time to train to level 1, then a bit more to level 2, etc... up to level 5.

Once a skill is at level 5 it is maxed out and you can not improve it any more.

A Rank 2 skill will take 2X time to train to level 1, etc..... up to 5, where it will remain.

Skills such as "Drones" are more basic skills and are usually pre-requisites to harder skills such as "Advanced Drone Interfacing" which is a rank 8 and will take weeks to train to lvl 5.

Edit; wow, the ground moved under me!

You WILL NOT get a Guardian Vexor. Regular Vexors, even Navy Vexors, yes, but NOT a Guardian Vexor. There are less than 20 left in existence. I've heard 8 being tossed around, and most of the survivors are probably sitting in inactive accounts/collectors' hangars. If you even find a G-Vexor for sale, it will cost tens of billions. Also, if you tried flying it, players would gladly sacrifice their half-billion ISK battleships just for the killmail.

Now as for long-range cruiser. There are two possibilities, the Caracal (which would require a great deal of cross-training into Caldari ships, missiles, and shield tanking), and the Vexor. The Caracal spits out heavy missiles from long range, while the Vexor can easily control drones from 50+ km. In fact, with a drone link augumentor, sensor range becomes more of an issue than drone control range.

And FNA is perfectly good-no need to join a player corporation yet. I say test the waters for a while before jumping into the pool.
