So, i've always liked the idea of this "lazy boy" of a ship module. So, what the hey, i've got a couple of iskies extra(i really don't) so i coughed the doremi for it and voilá, my ship now has a weird looking system on it's highslot since i dropped the nos for reasons of "no need".
Now.
Warp to nasties, hit button aaaaaand...nothing. *tap screen* Off...on aaaaaaaaand!!! nada...
Ok ok, must be a range thing. Nope, the nasties are at 15km, this thing locks them at 50. So what gives. Ok ok, maybe it doesn't lock things before they lock you? Let's go poke those busy bees and see if this whirling plate on top my ship actually does something...
Near nasties, nasties notice you, they lock, they shooooot aaaaaaaaaaaaand...nope. Not a beep.
So i've come to the conclusion that the only good thing about this is to raise your possible targets by two, which in most cases means you need targetting V to get your possible targets to 8(since the module bonus is a ship bonus ofcourse), and most ships can handle 8 locked targets, above the BC line.
So, could some nice person explain to me if this is borked or not? |

Been 1˝ year or more since I tried that thing... Try hit ESC and set "Auto Target Back" to as many targets you like - That should solve some of the issue... It the auto targeter is online and not working perhaps it's broken - I don't really know

Hmm I figured it worked like that.. maybe you need to have auto-retarget on, do you? And it helps target the extra lock points you get? I never really worked with that module, thought about it for my dominix, but heck drones tend to kill stuff as they/I wonder off anyways.. (7 locks on my domi btw) Sounds like a bug.. but I can't imagine how it helps anyways beside the extra targets.. which honestly doesn't help anyone too much bar maybe a fleet of logistic ships?? |

There must be a trick to it (or it's bugged and now a feature). I know for the passive targeting module you need to activate it and select the target "in space" and not on the overview for it to actually work. Does that make sense? Who knows, i've never gotten a response from a GM/dev about it. This game is rich with borked mechanisims and features. The most ironic thing is that the devs don't have a list of said borks for the public to see.
...go figure. |

Have to test it more extensively today, but seems the only + on it IS the +2 to ship max targets. And i as an example can, as a character, only target 7? (with targetting V). Seems rather silly since a battlecruiser can target 6 easy anyway, and smaller ships then that don't need that many targets. If there was no "auto-target back" thing in the game, then this might work. But now(if it does indeed only target those targetting you), it's pretty useless |

i tried it once in a mission and it worked fine about 5 months ago the only draw back is that it kept targetting things and not ships and i spent more time unlocking things that werent even able to shoot me.
It's ment to auto lock anything that's hostile within your lock range it'd be ace if it just worked off your overview settings but sadly at the time it didn't :( they might have tried to fix it and made it more broke and you must be the first person to use it since then :P |

I got one for my Jag when I was using it to run plexes with loads of frigates. I was using ACs and the pace was so fast it was a hassle to keep locking new targets. I figured that it would just keep the locked targets coming and all I'd need to do would be to orbit and fire.
I also thought it would be great in 0.0. Having an ultra fast locker with an auto-target module so that you could try and lock cloakers in that little flash you get before they disappear...
Didn't work - it would target random objects (same as the other post) if it was targetting anything at all and was a lot slower than doing it manually. So much promise but it's been gathering dust since.
No sig - I barely get enough time to get on as it is. |

Yeah, probably fixed the "won't lock all stuff" and now it locks..well...nothing! I've been wanting to use this...well...ever since i knew one existed, but couldn't find one near my place of residence or should i say since it's bork... |
