What are everyone's opinions on dock timers? Long enough, too short, just right?
With the advent of Kali, I've been finding that most people, as long as they fit a reasonable tank on their ships, are able to undock, shoot off a few rounds, and undock after springing a baiter's trap. Is this the price of empire, or is it an oversight of the HP increase that should be addressed?

I think its worse, personally, that you are invulnerable as long as you dont touch your pc when you undock. I cant count the number of pets i've seen do this over and over again.
The timer isnt too bad... I think stations may need a rethink as far as shape goes though. Some (sisters of eve) are very easy to bump people away from but others make it near impossible to do anything other than bump the target closer.
Even those with huge redock ranges are ok as long as a phoon or domi can get a good run up... and then its bye bye carrier... in empire its the same. Web + bump = death |

I hate station tactics. Anything to get rid of them.
If you are going to increase the timer, however, then allow peeking out of station while docked.

Timer is fine, all stations should drop you outside of redocking range however. |

Add 5 more undocking points, 4 corners, up and down and then jettison the ships out of the station well clear from a random port. That would help solve much station grief. |

Station turtling is lame, and borderline exploit. Bumping to disrupt warp/undock/etc is lame, and borderline exploit. Whos to say which is worse?
I sorta like danton's idea though, most of the problems seem to stem from having everyone pop out at one static location. |

i think they should introduce windows, so when we are outside the station we can do the clasic hand signals |

I'd like to see station undock work like gate arrival, specifically 15km out in some random direction with a short cloak to get past undock lag. |

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 08/05/2007 10:35:52 What would be nice is that then you undock - you randomly appear 15km from station in any direction as the above poster mentioned. A bit like what happens on stargates.
This way people wont bump into each other upon undock, and also avoid people bumping into stations upon undock.
It is also bit silly that you can undock and then instantly redock after invurnerability is over as is currently. This alone is worth forcing you 15km outside the undock range, so if you undock and invulnerbility is over, you better have a plan to survive, just as if you jump through a gate.
If you could jump through a stargate, then instaly jump back as soon as uncloak invulnerbility is over, then everybody would be crying nerf! |

Undock timer (i.e. how long you are invulnerable) seems to be fine (except for some lagged out systems). Aggression timer for docking should be longer, perhaps variant of ship size. Like current 60 secs for small ships, 120s for bs class, and some 10 minutes for capitals (which are a bit too invulnerable next to stations). -Lasse |
