I've been playing eve for about 4 months now, and for a while now i have been looking for a very stable source of income.

So far mission running is very boreing and tedius, ratting can also get boreing and doesnt require much skill, mining requires ALOT and most who mine have 3 or 4 accounts to make huge sums of isk. Manufacturing requires large amounts of skills to become well perfect at building.

So i guess what im trying to ask for is something to get me started, something to lead me in the right direction of producing a decent source of income. Thank you for you imputLaughing

Manufacturing takes 1 skill to level 5... how exactly is that large sums of skills?

@OP
Check this thread http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=331203 read some stuff there and then ask for more details. Telling you how to trade is a bit complex for one post answer. Wink

whjen i said large sums of skills i meant that to be perfect and in order to compete with most of the other manufacturers in the world of eve. And what do you mean one skill sto lvl 5? does that mean you only need that 1 skill to be very profitable in manufacturing or what, and what skill might that be if i may ask.

You need Production Efficiency at level 5. Then your build cost is only affected by ME level of your print. Industry should be at level 5 too, but it isnt neccessary. Thats all.

It's not the amount of skillpoints that will determine your profit. Maybe slightly, but in the end it does come down to the location and product you sell. While getting PE up is always usefull, it's not critical.

Try to locate areas that are in great demand of the item you'll be producing and start from there. And avoid the hubs till you get the hang of it and see if it suits you.

what sort of range are you looking at for your steady source of income? 100 million isk a month? a week? a day? an hour?

hmm, thinking of about 100-200mil a week, that probably is to much to ask for but its what im aiming for.

100-200 mil/week is reasonable. That's 14-28 mil per day. For a while I was making that with the sale of a single T1 item I produced. Unfortunately the market dropped out and it's not even worth manufacturing 90% of the items I own BPO's for now.

If you plan to sell in high-sec and at a trade hub you will want Production Efficiency 5 for any T1 product you are selling. Sure, it may not be necessary to turn a profit... but most T1 items, in high sec, turn a very slim profit. Most are below 15%, so if you're losing 5-10% or more from not having PE to 5 then you may even be losing money. But you'll definitely be making less than you should be.

Industry to level 5 doesn't really matter all that much for most T1 production... especially early on, because you prob won't be able to manage all the minerals and supply chain to keep production going 24/7 anyhow, especially if you have multiple BPO's.

Hmm i am considereing manufactoring Battleship's in 0.0, close to major alliances, would it better for me to haul the mins down there then build the ships or buy the mins while im there, or fly the ships down there myself.

do a couple of calculations...

find out how much it will cost you to buy minerals there over how much it will cost you in time and money to haul the minerals there. (remeber, time is a commodity as well)

if it works out to be a lot more profitable to haul the mins down there..then do that.

it will all depend on the local market.

I expect securing the low end materials such as tritianim for manufacturing battleships in 0.0 will be a challenge. These minerals do appear on markets but the supply is inconsistent and they are bulky to move around.

High end materials and BPC’s can be hauled in from the empire with manageable risk once you get the hang of the area (in particular the entry to 0.0 – assume it is blockaded until you’ve checked it with your own eyes)

Flying the ships down yourself would require less organisation but you have the risk of being caught / killed and the amount of handling required for each sale may limit your earnings or at least the number of sales you can make.

If you have the support of a local alliance you can neutralise much of the risk. Otherwise you’ll need a good deal of experience to avoid the various pitfalls.

The path I follow is, procure low end minerals locally (salvage primarily), import high end materials and BPC’s from the empire. Be as friendly as possible with the locals. Fly cheap making yourself worthless hunting target.

Ok sounds good, i'll keep that in mind. Any other suggestions?

Manufacture in high sec where materials are plentiful and readily available and then haul finished product into low sec.

Or begin a mineral compression supply chain to bring the materials more easily to you
