Hi,

Im considering making a Mininf foreman alt for my corp to boost the mining ops yield.

The skils I need are 1) Leadership 2) Mining foreman 3) Mining Director 3) Cybernetics . Is that all the skills I need and do I need to max them all to 5 ?

Please tell me if I have got this right, Once I have ll the relevant skills do I just make a gang and include the miners and off we go? also do we have to be in the same system ?

My last question is how viable is to train the miner to be the mining foreman and how small can the group be ?

THX for your time.Very Happy

Warfare Link Specialist also affects the mining command links.

Miner can be the foreman and stay viable, and a converted fleet size of 2 is all that is required. Foreman as the squad commander, others as the same squad members.

thats great so as long as I have someone in gang/squad with me I can use the skills effectively :) Have they got to be in the same system as me ?

All squad members must be in the same system.

Gangs will no longer provide leadership bonuses to any members - Right click on your gang in overview and click "Convert to Fleet" and then read up on the new fleet system in Revelations for how to set up your fleet. (The basic idea for 10 people or less - Everyone in the same squad, with the person with the leadership skills as Squad Commander. No FC or WC.)

Only battlecruisers and (I believe) carriers can fit ganglink modules, so the mining foreman alt CAN be a somewhat viable miner, but only as viable as a battlecruiser that is down one hislot will be. (This is if they are only running a single ganglink. If they are using command processors to run multiple links, fitting requirements will dictate that they are basically dedicated to ganglinking unless they upgrade from a BC to a command ship.)

Minimum squad size is two.

Cybernetics is not needed unless you want to use the appropriate mindlink implant, in which case the alt needs Cyber 5. You will want the Warfare Link specialist skill, and if you are doing ops in lower-security areas where you want to help your miners tank, you'll want Warfare Link Specialist at 5 so you can use Command Processors, and the appropriate Warfare Specialist skills for helping with tanking or possibly speed. (The afterburner/MWD speed boost ganglink might be nice for your haulers, although less so in this era of Warp to Zero.)

To obtain the maximum possible mining bonuses (10% mining laser yield, 22.5% cycle time reduction on mining lasers and/or ice harvesters, the drone ganglink does not seem to actually exist ingame), you need the following and their prerequisites:
Warfare Link Specialist 5 (allows the use of Command Processors which increase the number of simultaneous ganglinks you can run), also provides a 50% bonus to all ganglinks at level 5)
Mining Director 5 (500% bonus to ganglink effectiveness, although it's easier to think of it as 2% cycle time per level base, 3% per level with WLS 5 and no implant)
Mining Foreman 5 (10% bonus to mining yield, also a prerequisite to Mining Director)
Cybernetics 5 (allows you to fit the mining mindlink implant)

Without Cyber 5 and the implant, you'll get 15% cycle time reduction.

Mission runners in your corp will get a woody if you also train Siege Warfare Specialist and Armored Warfare Specialist in addition to the above skills. Your miners will also love you if they are mining in any dangerous areas.

Hmm somehow my reply got messed up..

Anyway, just read the above as it's mostly correct. The only thing to remember is that the only gang link modules out are cycle time reduction ones, and that a Mining foreman mindlink'd squad commander boosts direct ore yields per laser by 15% (10% mining foreman x 1.5 via implant).

So gang'd and boosted you get 15% ore bonus and 22.5% cycle reduction bonus.

Oh yeah, forgot that the mindlink affected the base Foreman skill. (Although I've heard CCP keeps breaking this aspect of the mindlink...)

I think this has been fixed, I'm getting quite a large boost in ore per cycle over what I was getting before plugging in the mining foreman minlink implant into my mining director. (Not to mention a rather impressive decrease in cycle time)

Yeah, I sort of heard it's been fixed too. I haven't paid too much attention since lately I've been semi-afkmining ice.

Having the aforementioned skills, implants, ships, and mods, I can happily confirm that it is fixed, and works very well.

So does this mean that if I am making a mining foreman alt mining foreman(skill) is not required for my covertor/Hulk w/e ?

Also has anybody got a complete List of skills for an optimum Mining foreman alt ?

I have so far Battlecruiser 1 , Leadership 5, Mining Director 5, Warfarelink Spec 5, Mining foreman mindlink 5, cybernetics 5, Drone Co-Ord' 5 and Lazer optimization 5.

Dopes that cover all the skills I will need for a mining foreman alt ?

Battlecruiser 1, Leadership 5, Mining Foreman 5, Mining Director 5, Cybernetics 5, Warfare Link Spec 5. The other skills you list, doesn't exist.
This setup will give you a 15% mining yield bonus and a 22.5% cycle time reduction, resulting in a 48% yield bonus for your gang.

i notice alot of mentioned of 'mining laser' in the topic..

im wondering, do all bonusses effecting those, also count for strip miners ? stuff like mining laser upgrade sounds like it would only work for a mnining laser, but i find it weird mining upgrades and bonusess not working for the mining specilised ships

Look at the Item Database. They're all in Mining Lasers category.
