Kill your friend (in the game).

Or better yet figure out a way to scam him out of all his posessions, and then kill him (in the game). Make sure you get his pod too, and take screenshots of the ensuing lulz.

Releng, the point of Eve is simply to do whatever you want to do and have fun doing it.

If this isn't the case for you at the moment, then something needs to change - either you should try doing something different in the game, or move on and try a different game altogether. *shrug*

Best thing you can do if you want to find out what the point of eve is, is join a player run corperation. Get out there and see the game, do some pvp, as a low sp player t1 frigate/cruiser raids in 0.0 are a blast and a cheep way to learn pvp. Or if you dont like playing pvp learn how to become an industrialist or a traider.

If you really want to learn to play fly your ship down to a .4 system called rahadalon and join us in Central Defiance. We can teach you to kill "peeps" with style and loose ships with grace. Drink a few beers, or coke if your underage, and have a good time. Its what games are all about. . . . on and when you come into rahadalon, tellem i sent you, but just to be safe have a clone ready near by :)

To the OP:

You are 100% correct.
If it ain't fun, why play?

No hard feelings. The most torturing part is when you make friends in-game and have to tolerate the boring gaming.

I'm proud of you to realise the problem in the early stage.

One thing, which i believe is missing, is a consistant storyline here.

You can't play a "amarr" storyline through(as in other MMO's), which would be nice to see. Some long a*se storylines, taking you from system to system, minnies to gallente and so on.

But....other then that...it's quite the same, in a bit more micromanagement level, then other massives. Get better, get bigger, get bigger ego's and beat better Cool

Let me ask you something. What is the point in Real Life? I mean, do you get any goals laid in front of you? Are you pushed into a track, and then told achieve this?

EVE online is very much like real life. The world is there, present to you, to live and breathe and do whatever you like. But you are never told what to do. Just the limits and the rules you have to live within. And EVE have less rules then real life!

EVE is a game where every man and woman tries to climb the social ladder. To become reputed, famous or infamous. To achieve something either for oneself or for the corp you are in. Or, you can decide to live your own life independently from the politics of EVE.

You can achieve something greater then yourself, while in other games the achievement are usually limited to your character!

That is why I love EVE!

What you should do is pick a path, pirate, industry, missions, those are the main three. Then find a corp that focus on that thing and make some new friends. Any game solo can get boring, make some mates and learn from them, tag a long, help where you can and teach those that follow you.

EVE is a form of virtual reality. Personaly I always want to fly a spaceship and do stuf in space. It is imposible in this point of time, therefore I have to satisfay my needs throu playing EVE. It is not the real thing, but it is best around.

What is EVE doing to You? Well, from Your post it looks like You need to find other virtual reality which better suits Your needs.

well my goal is to take over the EvE univers. helping my friends, killing my enemys. build a f'load of POS, collect ALL T2 BPO's, research em to the max, produce stuff to earn a few billions a day. take over Gingers nummber 1 pos in PvP. try to avoid loosing more capships than Ginger did :P

well atm im Mining, go to station, make some mission go back to station, buy new ship, buy new equipment, skill, then i go mine a while, i do some missions. and most of the time i fly 100km to a NPC wreck for about 5 min. to loot another small armor repairer.

i have fun :)

Haha, this topic wins.

Releng - I'm kinda bored in this game. Is A, B and C all there is to do?

Somedudes - Obviously you're not playing the game right. Everybody ever loves EVE. If you don't love it you're doing something wrong.

Releng - No but... I don't know, maybe it's just not for me?

Somedudes - Not... for you? NO! EVE is a social experiment! It is the greatest piece of art ever conceived by man! EVE is practically life itself it's so similar to it! You don't find life boring do you? Since you obviously do maybe you should just go kill yourself.

Releng - Um ok, I think I'll go play something else...

Somedudes - Yeah, run back to WoW. Pff, noob.

Heres what you need to do...

Download some movies in the video section, that will give u an insight of what is possible and what you would like to do.

After you have found out, join a 0.0 corp who cherish those goals, PvP, Industrial and so on.

Be a part of the corp activities.

If you think that is boring, quit EvE!.

I completed it the other day, You fight allthe way through but the last boss was kind of hard. He has this sheild and a hammer and you have to wait untill johnson shoots off his sheilds then hit him with every thing you've got while avoiding the other brutes and him....

Errr wrong game, In Eve you do what you want there is an astonishing ammout of things you can do and go all the people you can meet and all the people you can splode...

Immagination required. There are no goals only what you make for your self.

You are saying that you are not having fun? Which aspects of the game have you tried out so far? From what I get, then you have solo mined, solo missioned and solo ratted.
Since you are not having fun, you must have an idea of what you expected this game to be all about?

Have you tried chatting with people. Have you looked into joining a corp to further your horizon. Tried jumping into a ship, that you know you can effort loosing and heading into lower sec systems and explore?

I think that there are a lot of possibilities, but the fun lies in what your expectations are. If you expect to get everything handed on a silver platter, then this might not be the game for you. If you go into this with a open mind and see the possibilities within the game, then it can evolve to be a fun game.

when you're alone, you got 5% of EVE
join a corp, you got 20% of EVE
with that corp join an alliance, you got 40% of EVE
with that alliance, get in 00, you got 80% of EVE
i'm still figuring out the last 20% myself :)

Define your own fun.
Most MMO's are like this I dont understand where your coming from, maybe you should stick to linear single player games.

Eve is hard work especially in the begaining, give yourself goals, that next ship, that isk target, your first kill, join a corperation and be part of a bigger picture with bigger goals. If these things dont appeal to you then EVE is not for you.
I have a rl friend who left after a few weeks and he is forever asking me if Im still playing that 'awful mmo', he likes EQ2, I think EQ2 sucks so I dont play.

Use the left/right keys to move your spaceship along the bottom of the screen. When the screen turns white, you have half a second to hit space. This will release a Templar, which is an ammar fighter, used in carriers. The Templar will basically provide you will additional firepower. Shoot the ships as they move down, increase speed, and change direction. If you survive a level, you get to move to the next one which will feature slightly faster enemies and slightly more Templars.

To win, you have to quit and give me all your stuff.

Your main problem seems to be you're used to structured game play, i.e. you are used to being given a set of defined goals and then work your way towards completing them until you "finish" the game.

Eve does not have this aspect. You literally have to set your own goals and then work towards achieving them. Your goals can be as simple as getting a certain ship or getting a certain amount of isk or somthing much more elaborate (world domination - I'm serious).
YOU decide when you've finished the game.

Some people can handle this type of style of play and enjoy it, others can't. If you can't then you should probably look elsewhere as Eve has no end game to work for.
However if you can make the adjustment you'll wonder why no one ever made a game like this before (personally I find structured games very restrictive now).

The only real limiting factor is your ability to play the game and how much you are prepared to commit to completing your goals. Everything else is pretty much fair game.

Good luck.

If you want there to be, yes. There is very little "storyline" game content in the sense I suspect you mean. You can define your own goal and work towards it. If it's epic conflict you want, there is a huge war going on between to coalitions of player alliances, involving many thousands of players.
