True story. WE had about 450 in local, most of us on the gate or ready to be on the gate. THEY had about 400-450 on the other side of the gate. We all expected lag, even a node crash (or two), but it's been about an hour now and we still haven't had a fight. EVE keeps crashing. I'm frapps-ing some of the discussion, thinking of making a movie with my "entering the game as Haas Tabris" screen as the only visual and just letting folks listen to the ts banter. Very Happy

CCP, I'm really not here to *****, I just think you may have reached the limit of 0.0 warfare with the game as it is.

I'd suggest rethinking the stargates. I understand this is an integral part of the game, BUT, when 400+ players try to jump through all at once it just plain doesn't work.

Perhaps give all ships jump-drives that work without cynos. Your ship then has a light-year range, and a light-year per minute speed, and you just go to the map and jump. You wind up somewhere in the system, and then you need to group up with your fleet by warping to gang members.

The defenders will need to have their probers out and working and the defending fleet commanders will have to figure out where the hostile fleet(s) are forming up and coordinate a defense. The defenders would also need some sort of sensor to alert them that hostile ships are inbound, but I sure you can imagine something.

I think it could be pretty cool. Plus, it might make it easier for you to shift the server loads around. If it takes 3 minutes to jump to a nearby system (as opposed to 5 jumps that also take about 3 minutes), your servers then have a few minutes to ready themselves for the new load. I know I'm anthropomorphizing a bit, but I think you get the idea.

Anyways, just a few thoughts as I sit here waiting to load back in...

Wait for the new client and other optimizations to fleet battle.. Obviously the playerbase has outrun CCP's ability to keep up with them.. Wink

400 player jump into 450 .... what did you expect ?

From my experience, the node crashes already happen with like 450 people in local, when it comes to a fight. 850 fighting ? No way.

Don't you know CCP is going to make it were as you won't even WANT to be in a gang of more than 30 ships?

Then when you guys want to war you will be doing it in many systems at once not just on the other side of a gate.

Yeah.. updated code and optimizations.. I'm fairly sure that CCP had no idea that fleet/pos warfare would escalate to the huge sniping spamfests we have now.. Eves popularity FTL in this case it seems.. Sad Let the marketing division take an unschedualed break.. Razz

Theres a lot of jokes about jita being run on a pumped up super server... is this true?

And with the size of the war growing daily.... shouldnt it move to follow the action? Very Happy

The carebears wont be able to log on in jita... true... but who gives a ****? are they writing the next few months (at least) of eves history? pff no.

I've been trying to get JV1V-O unstuck but no matter what I do it gets too loaded in minutes or seconds after its remapped. It's now running on a server identical to Jita after I forced it to load on it when I killed the node it was on before. Manually killing the node atm is pointless as it will just get stuck again(I've tried 6 times). Sorry I can't help more.

The carebears might not be writing the next chapter of eve history, but if it wasn't for them, the servers would have shut down a while ago due to lack of funds for upkeep.

Anyhow, breaking the 600-odd limit that seems to be in place for systems would be neat.

So what are we supposed to do? Just allow the POS to be popped or what? If anything close the WHOLE node down and put the hostiles back in the other system and then fix it for christ sake.

For you to say " sorry i cant help anymore " is an insult... our friends are to loose there pos because you guys cant handle / fix the load?

Valar suggestion:

Put all the people the jumped into jv1v last back into 2-3 systems back. Then put a 30 sec per 10 ship jump limit into jv1v, we will fix the lag our self from there, k thanks. :)
