I've only been playing for 2 months so some of this I could improve on. I fly mining barges for my High end mins working toward a hulk. Heres my set-up for my Osprey mining vessel. I use this for low end mins in high sec space. Looking for some suggestions to improve on it if possible.

3x Modulated Deep Core Minors
1x Standard Missle launcher
1x Scanner
1x Large Shield Extender
1x Medium Shield Extender
1x Shield Recharger I
2x Co Pro II's
1x Co Pro I

My mining barge only pulls in around 24 to 25% more per cycle than this set up. If anyone has suggestions or anything please post. Looking for the best possible configuration.

Thanx,
Maggot

Alot of it depends on where you plan to mine. All those shield extenders will help against low-sec rats, but a pirate will still eat you. Without any MLUs/Miner IIs, you're limiting your yield but that can kill your tank.

More info please...

I'm using this Osprey in high sec space wont be taking into low sec. Sole purpose is for low end min mining. thats why I run the shield extenders to help defend against rats. I also run scout drones to help defend along with the single launcher. this will never see any type of PvP. What I'm asking is, is there a way to increase my yield with out sacrificing my ability to defend myself against NPC rats.

highs: 3 mining lasers, tractor beam (for jet can)
mids: webber + scram (for ore thieves), shield tank in remaining slots
low: mining upgrade, co-processors (to fit everything you might need tech 2s)
drones to take care of rat spawns

That is right I think, its been a long while since I mined in an Osprey. Might be a tight fit even with good skills.

I use an Osprey for high-sec mining as well. But, I don't agree that you need most of that stuff, unless you're at war.

3 Miner IIs
1 Missile Launcher (any is fine)
1 Medium Shield Extender (just in case)
1 Mining Upgrade
1 Coprocessor
1 Whatever you want. I usually pack in a Cargo expander (or 2, see below) for when I'm not paying attention every second.
4 light scouts drones of your choice. (I prefer Hobgoblins)

Unless you get EXTREMELY unlucky, you won't have to bother with boosting shields at all before the rats go "pop". They MIGHT take your shields down to 60-50%...but so what? The drones and single missile launcher will take care of at least 4 of the strongest .5+ rats out there at a time. Probably more...but I haven't been attacked by more than 4 at a time so far in this setup.

If you can't use T2 miners or don't have many CPU enhancing skills, etc, just swap out the t2s with the miner 1 of your choice. Then, you can get rid of the Coprocessor and fit something else...maybe even a BCU for a little added security against the aforementioned rats.

EDIT: Yes, I realize I am not using any but one of my mid-slots. But, you don't really need to against rats in .5 and higher space. And, if you mine a lot in the same areas...drop the jetcan mining. It's too danged easy for someone to jack your ore. Go with the Giant Secures, and stake out a couple belts as your own.
