True, i liked very much Eve TV and i do agree that without those soemtimes on edge comments it could be boring sometimes so i think its done great.
Tough imho some comments could be abit toned down, balanced . |

/signed Seriously, we all know that this is not like PvP on TQ. So do these comments about the fights reflect the real power of an alliance ? Hell no. ASCN was second last time, so are they the second best PvP alliance in the game ? Some might doubt it, but still respect to the pilots and their strategy in the tourney. Did MC showed 3 awesome fights? Maybe not, but still most will take them as the most effective merc group in EVE. Spiral called us "unlucky loosers" and I really dont care. Yes I would have prefered a win against BOB, but they had the more effective setup. Im proud of our team and enjoy the fights and EVE TV. Everyone taking the result of the fight too serious is more than welcome to come down to Syndicate for some fun. They might step on the border of pure lame smack, but so far they do a great job entertaining us and never crossed it (with Ifni clearing up his comment about MC on the forums). So, thanks to EVE, EVE TV and all the alliances taking part for some great entertainment. |

I think the tournament and Eve-Tv has been awesome so far. A huge improvment from the last tournament. So just keep it up and dont get sensetive on the rants. If its soo bad for some, turn it off. Noone's forcing you to watch.

I have to say I'm very impressed with EVETV. EVETV doesn't just commentate on the tournament they make it fun. Imagine if they didn't do anything bar say just the facts, it would get boring pretty fast. The jokes and jabs at players and alliances make the broadcast fun and a pleasure to watch and like they said, they make fun of everyone, so don't take it personally  . offending everyone equally eh spiral?  Anyways the EveTV crew is quite public. You know their mains, and you know their corporations. Finding out where they live, or getting any intel on them is as easy as finding out where the President lives. Take their words with a pinch of salt however. Spiral, Xyliana et al: You guys are doing a great job, keep it up. I'd be worried if no one was whining tbh. |

All I can say is: If you can't take the heat, don't play with fire.
If you redicule people on a public broadcast you open yourself up for criticism as well. :)
I openly defended Spiral and Xod in IRC all the time the last tourney when people dissed them for being less knowingly about the internal game mechanics.
It seems the publicity has grown to Spiral's head a bit. Insecurity shines through in the amount of arrogance displayed.
I enjoy every moment of watching EVE TV, but trying to take the **** out of someone while making a fool of yourself and not allowing criticism against yourselves... zOMG..
You sound much like the RL media already! :) |

I just love it. They make fun of the allaince i am part of too and tbh i laugh at that too. I don't see anything wrong in making fun of someone , if there's someone that feels offended by a joke , than u are obviously not playing this for fun , but maybe for a show off or god knows what.
As on of the "sprite" commercials it says : u love to laugh at other ppl , as others tragedy entertains u , and u know that when u **** up everyone else will laugh at u.Life as it is.

However comments like "omg an armor tank Raven what are they doing?" "who would ever want to hire these guys" "they have only bought one semi good setup to this tournament" Are abit different. Anyhow thanks to all the EveTV people especially the ones that are doing all this in their own free time, I enjoy the majority of this and thank you. You give the Eve-Online game yet another uniqueness (if thats a word  ). |

I thought all your commentary was OK, and was good in the spirit of you all being nonproffesional commentators who are participants in a game. I really enjoyed watching the 6 matches I watched, and look forward to next weekend.
I also think some of the alliances/players who you made comments about, need to grow a bit thicker skins. However, you guys need the thickest skins of all, being 'celebrities'. As well as critics.
As such, I thought many of EvE TVers responses in the MC thread as being inappropriate. Also surprising, it seemed like there was some real issues there on the part of the EvE TV towards MC.
Basically, asking the question of how could the commentary/hosting be better is a good one. Getting defensive/personal is not a good idea (which is sort of how I read the first post). |

I truly love watching the alliance tourney and I don't think at all ur overstepping ur boundries. Jeremey Clarkson (top gear) has been doing it for years. It's not necasserily the truth. IT'S JUST AN OPINION. If the eve-tv commentators would just give the dry facts it be like watching the news on tv ffs. What u guys are doing now is way better. I do think it was nicer before when u guys sat on a couch tho, the table is so..... dunno the couch seemed more relaxing. it's a nice professional setup this way but better off the relaxed way  bottle of Quafe on the table keep up the good work guys, ur doing a terrific job. |

The fact that you have hurt some uber hard alliances feelings demonstrates your doing your job well, keep it up.
If your going to dress like a chubby bee at least make sure you have some wings and tweedle boppers next time around, if only to give your griefers some more ammunition.

Good post Spiral.
I wanted to say thank you to everybody involved in EVE-TV, and this looks like a perfect opportunity. The show is great. Yes its biased, yes you are poking fun at everybody, and maybe even make inappropriate comments. This is what makes EVE-TV a blast. I enjoyed Stavros' dirty jokes the last time when there was an uproar about it on the forums, and there is completely nothing wrong with slandering a losing team. It fires up the tournament and adds gladiatorial mood to it. Most importantly it causes emotions in participants and viewers.
So thank you everybody who took their time and came to Iceland to provide us with this awesome coverage of the tournament. And thanks to CCP who made it all possible. Keep up the good work and don't mind the whiners.
To those who get offended by the comments:
If you somehow think that negative comments about you on EVE-TV make you look bad, you have no idea how much worse it looks on you to take offence at them. On the other hand, the ability to brush off insults shows high level of security and self-esteem, which only strengthens your reputation.
P.S. Good thing Darcha mentioned the couch. YES PLEASE! Bring back the couch next time. It was so much better. |

I disagree, tbh. I dont think they are a bit different - I mean they're actually talking about the tournament aren't they, whether you think its accurate or not. The only one that is a bit inappropriate is "who would want to hire these guys", but if you are seriously annoyed about that, at least enough for the MC to spam this thread somewhat... well, its rather pot calling kettle black when you say the publicity has gone to spiral's head. |

For starters, I love Eve TV. I like to see the way you have been evolving, and the fact that this is mostly volenteer work just amazes me. Good job. I do think that some very vocal critics of Eve TV have been taking things a bit too far. I would agree with them if I were paying good money for watching Eve TV and they were hoasting something major, but seeing as it's free, run by volenteers and about an event in a computer game, then I think some take this too seriously. But there are some valid points also. I like the way you slag some of the alliances off, it's fun. A bit like what Jeremy Clarkson does (as someone said). But if you do that, you need to be able to handle people slaging you off, as long as its done in a similar manar to what you do. Eye for an eye etc.. As for some constructive criticism, if you want some. I think why many have a negative attitude towards Andrew is because of the way questions are asked by Spiral. They are mostly not directed at anyone, and it seems Tervaga is quicker to reply, thus leaving Andrew out of it. Perhaps if Spiral directed his questions more at one of the experts (not always, but more often) then this issue would be resolved. But all in all, keep up the good work. Honestly, most of us love what you're doing. I want Eve TV back for the next championship, maybe even other things. Whatever you do, don't give up cos a few people are sore. |

Great production guys, and thanks to all you people working so hard behind the scenes to pull this off. Eldo, Andor, Ifni: SpiralJunkie is the only commentator of whom I'm aware that never logs in or undocks. For the others, your point is valid. For instance, I know Farjung PvP's, as I've fought him (and won ). With all due respect to our opponents, you guys went 3-1 on AXE's first match in favor of a group of one-year-old characters over an AXE tournament team whose noobiest member has over 30m SP. Having spent most of the past 6 months ninja-mining Veldspar out from under Chribba in Amarr to pay for our tournament team's implants, I feel a bit slighted by that. While we're on the topic of commentator shortcomings--nobody in the tournament is "failing to call primaries." If you see damage spread out over multiple ships, look for sensor dampening and auto-aggressing drones. Nobody enters this tournament without an understanding of why and how to call primaries. --P |

I really enjoy EVETV but everyone needs to accept the fact that The Commentators The Studio hosts The Viewers Have no clue whatsoever as to whats going on.The only people who really understand the tactics being used are the team, the opposite team and maybe other contestants who know what to look for. If you're just going on comments from the commentators / forums / whatever you are an arse. Just a few days ago the post about "god damn target that oneiros on the bob team", i mean wtf  I suggest next year you bring actual participants of the tourny to the studio. Hopefully someone will volunteer. Besides all this smack on the forums i'd like to say GJ on doing the whole thing, lots of respect for running the whole thing. |
