I, and many other people I have talked to, are frustrated with rats despawning in the middle of combat. It's not fair to us that we waste time and ammo getting a rat almost out of structure to have them vanish on us.
An easy way to fix this is to simply pause a rat's despawn timer while it is engaged in combat. |

They are not despawning, they are warping off.
I was able to find 2/3 of those warping spawns in the same system, just go out and look for them. |

Or it could just be fixed the right way. Unfortunately I was not aware of this, as I have not received any defects about it. I'll try and look into it in an idle moment as it seems like a rather ridiculous thing to happen! |

I always thought that was intended But as the others said, they do warp of to *somewhere* from time to time in the middle of a fight. |

Yup, belt rats regularly just "disappear" for no obvious reason. It's particularly annoying when this happens with "special" spawns (for example, mineral carrier spawns seem to run away with alarming regularity unless you go straight for them.
On a related note, it's really irritating when you chase a rat BS out of a belt, killing it slowly, and then it turns round, MWDs back into the belt and then pops your drones when you get out of its targetting range... |

Ah, right. You remind me that pirates do flee in some circumstances. I won't be changing that, but if I see any way they are mistakenly warping away when they think there is no reason not for them to leave, then that would be what I would fix. |

Most annoying is when they don't warp off but end mwd'ing litterally from one belt to another at ridiculous speeds.... :P
Another thing I very often see is npc's warping out of a belt, to show up at a station/outpost.
Now that I think of it, would it be possible in 0.0 to have the npc's spawn at our stations as well? :) Saves travel time ... (and would get rid of folks parking afk outside).

better on features and ideas but they are at gates so why not stations |

Well there is a level of sense in it. The NPC's have sovereignty typically, we intrude on that, so they should come over and try to kick us out :P

On a similar topic, I find that some angel rats mwd away if you use target painter/tracting disrupters on them insted of guns. Those who saw those angel rats travel from 50km to 16,000km over a period of hours away from the azn outpost a few days ago know who to blame :)
Oh yes, it appears rats dont leave the grid :) |

Some of the belts out in 0.0 are 400+ km in size, and I sometimes will be fighting a BS spawn in the belt some 150+ km from the belt marker itself, and suddenly the BS decides to run for the belt marker at rediculous speed. I spend several mins running after them and finally catch up to them sitting at the belt marker and kill them, but it is still rather annoying to see them up and zip off at lightning speed.

Yup, and I fight Guristas exclusively these days. I'm talking about 1.8m Ravens doing 1k/s. |

Agreed, and when you kill them they only have a 10mn ab on that battleship! |

Actually, i do have to say, since the dragon patch, the belts have "reset" a lot more than i ever remember it. |

When NPC's and fighter drones warp they need to properly *warp*
i.e. turn, align, be able to be warp scrambled, disappear off in a line, etc.
At the moment they just vanish.
Also when heading back to the center of a belt it would be better if they waited until they were over 150km from it, and then turned and did a short range warp back - exactly the same as player ships can.

Wow, I'm suprised my post got this much of a response. Anyways, if the rats warp away because they're getting their butts kicked, that's perfectly understandable and reasonable. It's just that if I'm actually looking at one and it suddenly vanishes, the natural conclusion someone would come to is that they have despawned. (Or perhaps the server just 'lost' the ship, which wouldn't be much of a surprise as of late. ) |

there is no need to be so aggravational about it, regardless of whether you know all about it for so long.
Personally, they've not done it so often as since the dragon patch, hence the notes being made here. |

You can see what direction they warp to by utilizing the tactical overlay and having them as the selected target in the overview. If they warp off a line will point in the direction they went.

Unfortunately not, NPCs and fighters just vanish. One minute there, the next gone... :( |
