My personal opinion:
The older players within "the swarm" are using all the goons as cheap meatshield and as sort of "inteligent macro mining drohnes"...otherwise they would have been kicked out of 0.0 fast...

I do not agree with these tactics, i already got some smackmails from goonies complaining why i shot them (whine, whine, "i'm only a noob and you're so strong...thats unfair"). And their older players loose barely their ships 'cause within the increadible BLOB they are quite safe + they are way more experienced and usually faster...
Honestly....which FC would send in "tacklers" without mwd towards some antifrig-fitted ships??

And something i REALLY dislike is the way they encourage their members to use very "suspicious tools":
Quote:
3) Cube Polygon's icon pack. He maintains a list of 6,000 players in the game and records whether they are hostile, neutral or friendly. This is unbeleiveably useful.

Linkage

That pack labels me as a GOON TERRIORIST OMG! As such I pretty much dislike Goon Fleet not on a player-by-player level but I really dislike the Leadership and its asshatery. This said I have to say, I couldn’t disagree with you more about the icon pack, I did to originally think the pack was nothing but an exploit. However adding hostiles to your address book is a age old practices, the only difference between that vs, the pack is the pack more effective on a large scale and it doesn’t lag eve clients. It was also petitioned along time ago and gm's ruled it was in fact not an exploit.

Your modifieing the client, thats clearly a exploit.

The only problem is, you cant get them with that.

But that thy advertise this on their boards is poor, nothing else.

Why cant you get them with that?

It should be very very easy for CCP to verify modification of client files.

The problem is that CCP does not see this huge advantage as an exploit, so I think it would be a good step if somebody created a program that lists these 6000 players, sorted by corp and alliance, to allow everbody using this advantage.

Not ? Link ...
Interesting, read the last post. I'd prefer a clear answer to it. Not that some people modify it, because they just don't care and others don't get this advantage, because they are afraid to get banned.Exclamation

edit: If I don't get the answer here, I probably file a petition to get this answer. Because if it's allowed, I'll surely start to edit my portraits, too.

Its in the cache.

Every player has a special named jpg there, CCP has no chance to check whats actually in the jpg.

Dear goon alt posters:

Stop. Posting.

Unless you are Steven Colbert or Don Kingg (who haven't bothered visiting this ludicrous thread and are actually funny), stop posting. You're not funny. You're not amusing. Your smack and 'no u' just makes us look foolish. If I ever find out who you are, I will fine the bejeezus out of you.

Everyone else:

Please return to enjoying this trainwreck of a thread. :D

Let me get this straight. Older more established alliances out there are faulting goon for bringing a large number of pilots to the fight, which in turn causes lag? Isn’t that a bit hypocritical?

I know I am posting with an alt, but it makes my point no less valid. Whenever any major alliance goes to war they always bring so many pilots lag becomes a factor. One of arguably the most powerful alliances in the game uses this tactic often (BOB).

So what you all are saying is either your scared, or its only ok if you bring 100+ Tech 2 pilots, not if they are flying Tech 1?

Am I missing someones point, or is that in fact what you are trying to say?

Normally I dont talk with alts, but since your probably new to the game I make an exception.

I think my follow alliance mate was refering to using light drones to create lag for the party who jumps it.
Light drones do nada in a BS fleetfight, except to create lag.

Well, in case of Goonfleet it doesnt really matter, lag wont help you with leaders who let their whole fleet to die to safe themself.

They should either allow it or forbid it and then use watermarking or a modified fileformat to be able to detect modified portraits.

The situation that maybe thousands of players abuse something that's against the eula and you still don't know, if you are allowed to do it too, or get banned for it, is annoying.Exclamation

Please do not discuss bans and exploits on the Eve-Online forums.

Also, please do not discuss modification of the game client as this is a breach of the EULA.
