As I am wriging this, my ship has blown up in a fleet op. I have been blown up for the past 10 minutes. My screen has not yet updated. This is impossible. How can you possibly play a game like this?

I will post another message when my screen updated. This RAMSUS 100000 or whatever did not do a damn thing.

Lag was horrible. I saw 2 hostiles appear, then - freeze. Someone was shooting me but no one was targeting. Armor rep took like several minutes to activate and even more time to deactivate. The ship was randomly flying at different directions even at safe spot.

So much for a battle :(

Much of all this has to do with the blobbers. I have no idea how it can be fixed, in the meantime, you people are your own worst enemy. find a new tactic... and does it really help to sit a watch a lagged screen for 30mins? I suggest you log off and give room for those who dont blob out nodes.

"Hey, I've got this really good idea on how to defend our space. When the enemy sends a fleet up, we all log off. No lag, no ship losses, no forum moaning."

"Give that man a promotion!"

Please get a clue on how this game works before making uninformed posts like that.

i think as i said in the other post, people dont realise how much cpu a fleet battle takes up..

you need such a kickass pc for it not to cause "lag" when 100 people are firing at each other, each with their own ship model and effects..

half the time it isnt ccp and their servers, or your personal bandwidth issues..

its your pc struggling to cope with eve..

I got killed in the same battle, on the opposing side.

I watched my ship burn for several minutes, and then my pod auto-piloted to the star.

Thank you to the enemy stealth bomber pilot who sent me home. You achieved what a stuck petition did not.

CCP, you have half a dozen alliances with thousands of players fighting in the North. Please recognise reality, and dedicate extra resources to those nodes.

well have u guys tried turning off turret effects and all effects (dial up here and up to 50 fleet battles have some lag but are still playable)

Lag is a problem that is why empire and 0.0 wars are better thought off with small gangs spreading out and engaging smaller enemy detachments

I had turret effects off, all other effects off, sound off, view zoomed out, and this is the best part, I set all the chat channels to blink=off and minimized them.

What else was I supposed to do? Nothing worked. I have a combat log consisting of a 6 minute pounding during which time I receive every error message you can get. Mods won't activate, ammo won't load, targets don't exist, and I am warping repeatedly, but there is no EW holding me back. The guys in the killmail were 50-60km away.

I'm the only guy who died in the lag who even has a full combat log. Everyone else I spoke to, says theirs is completely blank. Nothing recorded after the jump.

If there was a battle, it's news to the participants.

Yes. Let's all safespot while they destroy our POSs, put up some of their own and wait for the next DT to claim stations. Are you that much of a dimwit that you think we're gonna let this happen?

And I don't blame them for blobbing. You can't expect them to only bring up 10 ships. You've gotta bring as many ships as you can because you know your enemy will do the very same.

LOL... all I'm saying is you can't complain about something that you YOURSELF are causing. Try looking outside the box and find newer tactics. CCP is aware of this... in the meantime if you and your pals wish to "claim" that space you're gonna have to deal with it. If you like to PVP so much, perhaps fight them with your 1000 members 23/7 and attack them over several systems... if they wish to blob themselves... then you and your pals can pick off the stragglers in their other systems. Keep the pressure on them... even if its 5-8 members at a time.

Otherwise, blob away.

There is no newer tactic to counter the blob. You've gotta blob back. Safespotting while they take control of your hard earned space simply isn't an option.

Hmm. Seems to me everybody knows that CCP knows of these problems.
Seems to me that everybody knows that blobs\fleet battles cause problems.

Seems to me there ain´t anything new here...

Seems to me that people should whine less, ***** less and play game more :D

Best defence against a naty looking ubäh blob(tm)? Just blob em back with cheap ass ships, make em fast, use ew and wait for them to crash :D since they will be using lots of modules but you few, so less lag for you hopefully.

btw, if anyone wants to try this, let me know beforehand so I can be ther with my blob and you tell me afterwards how it went.

maybe instead of pointing the finger at ccp, point it at the 100's of people playing eve with totally craptacular computers.

thats where 90% of your lag comes into effect.

i dunno I was there. on jump in i was auto warped out which is what prolly saved my ass. After I got back into the fight I have prolly 20+/- sec module lag. It improved for me as the battle went on. The lag was manageable though.

One thing to remember once you click on a module wait for it. Instead of spazing out and turning them off and on and giving your ship counter commands etc.

I dont have a uber pc either and I play from the US so the extra hops doesnt help either. I had all effects turned off. Also keep your overview closed untill after you jump thru and load completely.

proof?

I have a Geforce 6, 2.8ghz P4 CPU, 512mb ram, all effects off (turrets, special, trails, sun, etc), overview closed when I jump into a big fleet battle, 2mb broadband, and I live 60 miles from the servers.

I still lag.

Afaik the ram hardware upgrade was nothing to do with fleet lag, more to do with retrieving data from the database.

I'm sure alot of lag will be reduced when they install the new (Razor?) servers Wink
