I was running missions in .7 space with 2 other corp mates. The mission we were on took us through a jump gate into a dead space area. We had just finished destroying the last NPC when a Vengeance jumped in on us. After a few moments she went red, locked me, and was quickly joined by her friends. My two corp mates got out, but I was destroyed. She suffered no sec status loss, and the Concord never showed to help. As far as we can tell, no one did anything to incur any kill rights (canisters, wrecks etc) nor has her corp declared war on our corp.

How is this possible?

Well it isnt possible you must of fired on them or your corp mates did
there is no way of going -YAR- on some1 in high sec without concord showing up
you mentioned that she went red well she took from you! <- thats why
your corp mates got out but you were destroyed <- im so sorry to tell you this but 1 of your corp mates got trigger happy or you must of accidently

The next time this happens DO NOTHING BACK just finnish your mission and GTFO <- simple

Go back and ask your friends if they ever fired a shot.... or did you? If they stole from one of your wrecks they would go red to you, if someone then fired on them, they can shoot back without Concord coming in.

Figured out what happened. She attacked one of our wrecks. One of our newer player corp mates was jumpy and got excited in coms the moment she went red. I hadn't noticed her before this, heard the sudden panic, assumed she was firing on my fleet, and ordered the fleet to open fire on her, thinking Concord was on its way to wreck her face in a hurry. What happened instead was we idiotically just flagged ourselves to her and her fleet waiting on the other side of a gate. Almost instantly I realized something wasn't right, ordered my two corp mates to warp out before anyone else got tackled.

I'm not pro, but I'm not exactly new. Never seen a pirate op pull that trick before, and feel dumb for falling for it. Oh well, fool me once yada yada yada.

Very Happy It's surprisingly common, actually. Or maybe I just think so because I'm 24/7 idling in a channel of other people who do that.

It's a good thing you're willing to learn from the mistake instead of whine about it.

That's what I get for mentally relaxing in hi-sec. Ah well, I just hope I get to return the favor some day.

Yeah, always be mindful of your surroundings even in high sec. Paranoia is the key to survival in all of EVE. Everyone is out to get you.

Rules of thumb to avoid ganking in hig-sec, when you're not positive how the aggro rules work:

- Don't use "please kill me, fat pinata" fits on your ships
- Don't fire back unless you actually see your shield taking damage.
- Don't loot anything if someone else got on the grid.
