So in a patch note I saw (in some thread) it said that CCP has removed the ability to become unprobable by stacking loads of ECCM on your ship. (something that T3 gangboosters liked to do)

Some questions... Does adding ECCM atleast make it harder for people to get hits on your ship? Or does it have no effect what so ever? Are there any next best tactics to use for things like offgrid gangboosters or stationary scan alts?

I once heard that a ship is very difficult to scan if it is flying in a direction quite fast... but I doubt this would work...

Any ideas?

Formerly unprobable ships are now probable by a max-skilled pilot with expensive implants and a considerable amount of (player) skill and patience.

Decide for yourself how that affects you.

So what you are saying is that ECCM still has an effect on how easy(or hard) it is to probe a ship.

Are you sure about this btw?

Yes.

Our max skill prober in a max skill Covert Ops ship with sisters probes and sisters launchers, was unable to get a lock on a previously unprobable Tengu. I think his best was around 70%.

Reports are that with even a partial scanning implant set it is easy.

Unless they have the implants, they are unlikely to probe the ship out.

High-grade virtues don't exist.

+1 for providing facts and not arbitrary numbers. Thank you.

Next step is for those who are still stupid after those changes to find targets: You undock and hit directional, can "warp to" at any distance.

It's a matter of time but it will happen. People were already too much stupid to find and kill improbable tengus in low/null...

Nice sarcasm, too bad CCP has said those numbers are not being released and we're expected to essentially figure things out for ourselves.

I guess if you need to be spoonfed, keep waiting around for someone to write you a guide. Sufficed to say, it's common knowledge at this point even a very good cov ops pilot will not get a quick fix on a formerly un-probeable ship. Wink

In addition to the comments above, even if you could be scanned down easily, what's the big deal, you know how to use d-scan don't you?

Or you just set up bait ships in missions and murder the guys coming for you. Lol.

It was for a off grid booster alt.

Not some lame mission running crap :P

You can just keep it cloaked till you need it can you not? Put it close to your pvp ship so that you can d-scan for your gang link alt, and cloak it if probes come too close.

Seems straight forward enough.

Or you could just have it at a safe off d-scan from anywhere in system so people don't even know there is one in system :P.

I heard target size is capped at 1.14 precisely. Seems plausible. Leaves you just above the 1.08 barrier, but not by far.

And next best thing after unprobable fit? I'd say, still unprobable fit: it makes a huge difference whether you can be found within 5 seconds by everyone, or in 1 minute by elite probers only -- D-scan despite.

Even if they are now probeable, it doesnt really affect too much other than someone thats dual boxing their PVP ship plus an unprobeable booster alt. That person cant just ignore the 2nd screen anymore. But for anyone else its simple:

Set Dscan range on booster ship to a fairly close range, say 4AU.
Watch dscan
When you see more than 1 probe on dscan within that range... move to 2nd safespot.
Rinse and repeat.
