There's no difference in branding, in 6 months everyone's going to be sporting identical monocles because EVE will decrease the price drastically.

Of course they will. Once CCP runs out of people willing to pay $80 to pay for a monocle, they'll start fishing for the people who will pay $40. Then $20. Then $5. So-on. Because like you said, they're desperate for money.
