Train2Game is now carrying the story but seems to have onnly read CCPs response rather than players posts so i posted this with their article.
The Bonfire of CCP’s Vanity.
Unfortunatly this article is now out of date and doesnt address the real issues much like the devblog quoted above. The real issue is the introduction of non vanity items for real money bieing introduced in game.
This has been compounded by an internal newsletter and a leaked e-mail from the CEO decribing players as a “golden goose” to be “milked”.
The comppany has repeatedly denied the introduction of non vanity items however the leaks show that this is not the case. The CEO dismissed players valid concerns claiming it was actions not words that matter. So the player community acted.
Over 5000 players have cancelled subscriptions since friday, a thread of over 350 pages containing 10000 posts and a million hits, combined with an active in game protest by thousands of players. Board members and shareholders were contacted, every gaming website and magazine has been informed and is carrying the story.
CCP have now called for the players elected representitives for a special meeting at the end of this week. Not only are players demanding assurances that there will be no MT for non vanity items, they are also asking for an apology from the CEO for his scornfull and arrogant treatement of the players.
This is a Gerald Ratner moment and CCP’s future depends upon the honesty of their action and how much goodwill they cam get back from a community actively seeking new a new sandbos MMO. Perpetuem online servers crased over the weekend as many players have already moved to it instead of Eve.
How many more subscribers can CCP leak before the company finds itself in serious trouble is unknown but CCP has been overstretched financially with two games in development and only Eve as a source of income?

Bull****. I think we should make a list of all players who officially 'quit' eve here, and we should grief them to no end in-game if they ever come back. Honestly, if you quit, then have the ****ing balls to actually quit. |

Theres the list as of last night, there are a number of names I would like to see you grief lol.
the subs cancelled will hopefully be resubbed. I hope to resub if CCP make a commitment to no non vanity items for MT. and an apology from the CEO for calling me a Golden Gosse to be milked whose opinion counts for nothing.

All of the above, I would definitley resub in a heartbeat if CCP said in plain english that they were restricting the AUR store to strictly vanity items and didn't evade the question and problem like politicians. NB "Golden Ammo" is not plain english. No ships, ammo, modules, weapons, skill points or implants for AUR is plain english. If CCP can commit to that they may well pacify the uproar caused by their vagueness and the downright insulting tone of the first dev blog, not to mention their leaked internal documents, whomever leaked those is a hero to a large number of players, if they get fired CCP create a martyrThe elephant is in the room, they're trying to sweep it under the carpet, the problem is that the elephant is on fire. |

Cancel subscription doesnt mean quit forever and ever. Hilmar wanted players to take action and players have. Look at is as a measure of the enourmous dissatisfaction present. |

They already have. Your small brain is simply unable to comprehend standard English, and thus CCP's many attempts to communicate this to you have failed. I don't know what else they can really do, short of erasing their whole website and replacing it with "NO VANITY ITEMS IN NEX" in huge bold red letters. People are idiots and apparently you are one of those idiots. Read one of the several goddamn CCP posts that have been linked and re-linked this past week. Read the latest Devblog even. I guess this is why there's a difference in the Ability to read and Reading Comprehension. You seem able enough to make ****ty posts on online forums, you just lack the ability to comprehend the responses you're being given. Actually when you teach children to answer a question in standard english you teach them to use the question in the answer so that the answer is clearly understood. If you understand standard english you would remember being taught that when you learnt to read and write. comprehension is easy, I can comprehend a deliberate anbiguity in the phrase "gold ammo," espescially when Trebor told ZULU to be specific about it and say non vanity. They ignored the advice of the csm in the devblog on friday and did so again yesterday despite the storm of outrage it created. If you can't comprehend what that means then you are comprehensively incomprehendible. |

+1 This is what it all boils down to. We want them to confirm that non vanity items will NEVER have a place in Nex. However, it is unlikely they would make this promise. Internal documentation (the leaked article) shows they are brainstorming about it and sharing ideas. Yes, its just ideas at this stage, but i doubt they will promise us it will never happen. We will just hear "we have no plans to introduce it". Which means they dont at the moment, but may come back to it later. |
