Basically the slides described exactly what is happening right now, and that the amount of people buying advantage items on NeX would far outweigh the declining player-base. This will kill Eve in the long run but sap quite a lot of money from its dying carcass.

Yeaaah that presentation was great. Unfortunately for CCP I am not in that demographic. My life is pretty awesome, with EvE merely entertainment. For years I have been entertained and I will stay subscribed as this whole script plays out. If it ends up that CCP wants to pull an EASY then I will leave and never look back.

yup, most people complain for a while then get all submissive over time. it applies to more than just games if you think about it. example: people complain about political leaders, but never do anything.

this whole giant ragefest is probably more than just the NeX store though. i keep saying it but nobody confirms it, unless everyone realizes it and doesn't say anything.

More like some of them probably DO realize they are overreacting, but they are too embarassed to admit it or quit. So they continue in their actions and make up excuses to justify them.

"Forum posters spend 10x more than the average user." ~http://www.slideshare.net/bcousins/paying-to-win

Seems to me that most of the forum posters object to MT.Rolling Eyes

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NEX. Its to do with the fact that CCP CONTINUALLY LIED TO ITS PLAYER BASE, that it has new pet projects it is working on, and has no interest in EVE anymore. The fact that eve is a subscription based golden goose that CCP are going to try and MILK FOR MT ITEMS ASWELL.

Enjoy your new community of P2W members, im sure they will bring everything to the game that no one else has for the last 8 years.

The EA game in qquestion had 7 million users. 5% of that is a lot, thats 350000 people buying. And 95% still are not buying.

EvE has 300k users (last I heard). 5% of that is 15000. But eve is full of alts. So they will not hit that number.

Its just not the same situation. Its not comparable.

All of eves player base needs to buy plex and use the nex store for this to work.

That presentation is about a completely different demographic.

And as Mr Epeen missed the point as well CCP has access to the data and I suspect the reason they walked back from Zulu's Friday blog and made arrangements to bring the CSM out to Iceland is because the data didn't show the same story the Dice people saw with BFH.

CCP's ARPU is already higher than BFH by several orders of magnitude. And it also makes losing players over this a different financial equation entirely. Most the people who would leave a FTP game over a cash store weren't providing the company any revenue in the first place so losing their business isn't actually a loss. However each account that unsubscribes from EVE is a loss of $15 bucks a month. Many of the players unsubbing are taking 2 or more accounts with them when they leave. There were 4400 accounts listed as unsubscribed on the googledoc tracking this and that's only the people who bothered to post to the thread tracking it.

So don't give up yet, I think CCP just got a clear lesson that you can't automatically apply a business practice that works in one situation in substantially different situation and expect the same results.

Not to say that the MT model is going to be dead and burried but I'm pretty damned sure they'll make firm re-commitments to no performance enhancing items/services via Aurum. and we'll probably defer this battle for another year or so until they think they can sneak it through again.

I for one am not going to submit. I will happily quit for good rather than play a bastardized version of the game.

How many of those games lasted for 7+ years?
How many of those games have player driven economy?

ugh... it doesnt matter... it can work.. and unless we are actually different than the rest of HUMANS... it will work here too... This is psychology not game mechanics... we will like the compitition and rewards of killing a person who bought awesome gear and taking that gear and either using it or selling it... it just really could work.. if you watch the video everyone was upset and talking about leaving EXACTLY like we are

It can work without this player then Laughing, and without all the others who have the stones to talk with their wallet.

I GIVE UP.. i love the game to much to leave and you know it *I admit shamefully*

Not everyone goes through each stage in order, and many people come back to different stages over time.
