Hello,

Long time player (2004 here) with multiple accounts.

I have seen some of the worst forum tantrums, threats of quitting, mass fueled rage, to the point of being sickened by the more vocal types our community.

Through all of the past decisions CCP has made that caused so many to get angry, I've never felt the need to join in against CCP until right here, and right now.

Bottom line, are you going to extend MT to grant battle advantages over others (and are you going to replace some of the player driven economy in the process?)

A simple yes or no is required here. Any words outside of the 'yes' or 'no' response will not be tolerated, just as I could never tolerate mass forum hysteria from the bored and lonely.

Yes or no CCP. Don't waste my time.

Holy hell, made it to the end of the threadnaught...and I only started an hour ago to catch up. What to say...what to say. One, I was disappointed when I found out that there were MT coming to the game. I mean, do I really want to pay to play a game so I can pay to play a game? But they swore that it would be just vanity items, so I figured what the hell, my character doesn't need to be pretty, just needs to shoot at things. Then came the CQ, which is basically a showcase for all that pretty stuff that you paid for with real money. Great, a sales gimmick. So I go stand next to my ship...and noticed something. Whenever I arrive back in the station, the camera turns itself away from the fierce Mael floating in the hangar, and points me back at my empty CQ. Sales gimmick part 2. So I turned it off...hello door. No need to expand there.

Now we're talking about actually paying extra for ships, which has not been explicitly denied. Now I'm a router/switch/firewall guy. If you don't explicitly deny, than it's implicitly allowed...catch my drift?

So now not only can I pay to play a game to pay to play a game, but I HAVE to pay to pay to play. We're customers, not captives. We will leave.

Anxiously awaiting tomorrow's "press release" and hoping there are some solid answers, not just damage control.

Nice to see you read it all, I can all but promise you this separates you from all the CCP devs...

Just be prepared for the usual "lets kill them with kindness and bull****" spin doctoring that says "wow guys we are REALLY impressed with your dedication" <---see if you compliment the opposition the idea is that they will forget why they were mad

With a major in political science, I get to see what they are feeding us, and what they are feeding us is bull****: don't take their compliments, rub their noses in their own ****. Like a dog.

CCP your blowing it. I used to consider you one of the best game developers around, from communication with the players, dedication to your game, to free

expantions. I always felt like the guys developing the game loved it and played it and understood the community. I do not feel this way anymore, I feel as

if you are just another company out to give as little for as much as they can. I fell you now trying to charge money for things that CCP of 3 years ago

would have released free in an expantion. This leaked document makes it pretty obvious the integrity of eve is not a priority at the moment. That is sad, i

have been a subscriber off and on since 04 but if things continue this way I will have to say goodbye.

Citation needed.

CCP Pann has already told you what I knew was true - this in an internal newsletter for staff where they spin all kinds of bull**** in order to bring taboo ideas out into the open to get them talked about. Unfortunately in this case the newsletter was set out into the wild where people who don't understand the culture in which that newsletter normally lives, have totally misunderstood the meaning of the words.

I am certain that CCP wants to stick to their agreement with CSM about "vanity items only". That newsletter indicates that the discussion is now along the lines of, "where is the line between vanity items and concierge services/power items" and "how much can we do in Dust 514 before we **** off the capsuleers"?

I'm sure many capsuleers would be mightily ****ed off if CCP actually did try selling extra fitting slots or standings slots. But they want to talk about where the line is, so they need to talk about absurd line-crossing scenarios in order to free people up to talk about where the line might be. It's a psychological tool to help people who don't want to be the one suggesting the absurd idea, that you propose an even more absurd idea than anyone can think of so that the boundaries of the discussion are known.

I think CCP Soundwave did an awesome job in presenting the "pro-MT" side ("why does everyone think I'm Satan for just wanting to make money").

Sad to say, I think CCP Diagoras didn't go far enough in the negative side. IMHO he should have stated that we crossed the line way back when PLEX were introduced, and character sales were allowed. Arguing for the status quo indicates to me that CCP Diagoras feels (or was asked to feel) that there actually is plenty of scope for MT in the game, over and above PLEX and character sales.

But that's for a different thread.

The "leaked" document is real, but the nature of its content and the context in which that content has meaning must be understood.

This is more or less the conclusion I came to. Ideas were presented in an internal newsletter to get discussion about them going. Unfortunately, most people didn't realize this, and started raging.

If I'm wrong about that, then consider my sub cancelled.

I'm apathetic about MT for Vanity, but the nanosecond that MT gives gameplay advantages is the moment I'm gone. Dress yourself up all you want. But if you spent real money, and beat me in a fight, that just ****es me off. It will be the death of the game.

Where would you lot be when it turns out the guy you thought was Robert Paulson was actually Tyler Durden?

That they are having the conversation at all, is troubling.

My account expires in three weeks.

Words wont cut it this time. In my case, you, CCP, have three weeks to show changes! Actual and factual changes!
Or its one less account being renewed.

The problems:

1. Truth (or lack there-of) ugh
2. Actually listening to the players. - no more "we have the csm for that" BS!! NDAs ? that shows your true colors. Evil or Very Mad
3. Stop with expansions and fix the bugs. Exclamation

One action is worth a thousand words!

I was told there was a big obvious yellow message waiting for me later on.

I honestly cannot answer that right now nor should you hear any such answer from me as many have said. As Pann opened this thread, she stated, "I won’t be able to answer all of your questions tonight, but I promise we’ll start getting some info out tomorrow."

The reason why I am going through every post and not just skipping to the end unless someone tells me to, is so that I can make sure the nuances of the player responses are condensed, fully represented and then transmitted within CCP to the appropriate people. (Jade Constantine's post is one obvious verbatim one amongst)

Player feedback has diligently been sent from our community and PR team since time immemorial and it is my most solemn and serious duty.

It is more important right now than trying to "solve" things or crusading to answer every single post. That was pretty clear after a short second of introspection following my second or third reply at around page 5.

This is one of the most important questions that alot of people are wanting an answer on. The answer to this question will depend on if many of us will keep playing eve, or leave it because eve has been ****ing ruined. And when I say ruined, I'll elaborate.

To me EVE Online sets itself apart from most other MMO's out there. Its unique. Its not the same 1-level cap MMO like many others. The possibilities on what we can do have been continued to get expanded on. There have been many unpopular changes, That is bound to happen. Eve keeps on going. There have been popular changes, People love them. Eve keeps on going. I could go on about what eve is like to me, However there is something that has to be addressed.

Following "An industry Standard" for Micro Transactions isn't how Eve should be envisioned. It is a major mistake. Sure, Add vanity items here and there nothing that affects gameplay. Say you won't add anything that will alter how the game works. Then like most, MMO's that promised they wouldn't add game altering items, something magically happens. The company adds cosmetic items to alter the appearance of a ship, or a different bridge choices to change the interior of the ship (Check out Cryptic's Star Trek Online.). That slides past the community. Then introduce Special Edition 'To Be Named' Ship. Special stats/slots/bonus's. Yours for only 25,000 Aurum. Then extra ship slots, only 10,000 Aurum each! Do you see where I'm going with this?

This is our fear. This is what we do not want to happen to the game we loved. Companies get blinded by $$. And that is all they end up seeing. They start to focus less and less on content updates, and focus more on that next big Cash Shop selling item.

I'll put it in even bigger letters.

WE DO NOT WANT.

Please do not ruin our game. If you want EVE to last another 8 years, another 20 years, Forever. Do not ruin our game.

Logically he thought no EVE Players followed him on Twitter and would catch the post.

Logically when CCP says they won't do something and stabs the Players in the back, logically we should not ask them to stop twisting the Knife let alone pull it out.

Logically you should bend over now.

I for one will not be resubbing 4 out of my 5 accounts, only keeping the 1 in misdirected hope that it does not go the way the newsletter portrays, Many more single player/offline games i can go pirate and get many hours of enjoyment for free without someone picking my pocket.

5 years playing, thinking i would never quit, supprising how a single newsletter can completly reverse your feelings about a game.

Well, a "lot" is an admitted overstatement. I was thinking specifically at the time though of the fact that _some_ people don't realize that NeX stuff on sale now can be purchased with in game ISK through purchasing PLEX.

It's a relatively small point, and I probably should have (a) been clearer or (b) not said anything at all.

There is a lot more logic being said here though and a lot of passion as well, and I don't mean to try to diminish that.

Gonna charge for expansions now?

Gonna unload cash from us to fund Dust and your Emo Vampire game?

I started eve cause it was the only Science Fiction MMO that looked interesting to me. Matter of fact, it was really the only one worth a damn at its time. The rest was fantasy crap or whatever.

What kept me going is the fact that you focused predominately on what made the game better to play. Or more fun, interesting, intriguing, dynamic, and just plain exciting to play.

From a crappy frigate I worked my way up to battleships and various tech2 ships. Went through module balancing, drone changes, the introduction of tech2 ammunition, recon ships, interdictors and command ships.

All of which played a central theme. This game was about a pilot flying in space, commanding a ship and doing things to earn money, fame, glory or just plain bloodlusting after combat.

Now, an interesting thing you tried to do. That I was rather excited about. Leave your ship and become a real person. Not just a ship in a hangar or a portrait on a character sheet, or a conversation in a chat channel. Get out and do things.

Well, I can deal with CQ being lame for a while till it's finished but the idea that Incarna was the stepping stone towards milking our community for money to fund "other projects" is just flabbergasting (I'm bringing back that word).

I've spent hundreds of US Dollars, others have spent hundreds and thousands of Pounds, Euros, Pesos and whatever else I we all use to pay for because we love eve. It might just be a damned video game but we like how we were respected by the company. Our opinions where listened to, no matter how dumb they might have been.

I also, respect the fact that you are possibly concerned about our rage against CCP right now.

I'll end my rant here. But the console market may have changed CCP I think.

I have just unsubbed my 3 accounts.

I will NOT be a part of a game that will deal in non-vanity items.....PERIOD!! So, if you wish for me to reconsider my sub's, you are going to HAVE to answer that question.

Also, the lack of customer support I received from CCP since Incarna released certainly influenced my decision as well....

Really, we don't care much about AUR/isk what we don't want is any way to buy better stats/ships et al with out of game money. Hence the big yellow question...
