I have 4 accounts. I am dangerously close to unsubscribing at least 2 of them and watching eve burn.
Reasons:
-Lack of good spaceships in space content in over a year
-CQ is burning out people's hardware
-I love station spinning (100% serious about this)
-CCP blatantly lied to me, first about MT, then about vanity items for MT, screw you CCP.
-the lagg (which actually is improving)
-CCP nerfing 0.0 anomalies for no legitimately good reason
-CCP nerfing all income (i think its to get people to buy more plex at this point)
-CCP's internal newsletter completely out of touch with reality, and plotting to manipulate the EvE community

The things that can get me to stay:
Refocus on the core of EvE
-tier 4 BS
-t3 frigs
-boost all income across eve so people can enjoy pvp more
-remove MT, or at least never go past clothes
-nerf supers
-An apology from CCP CEOs and lead directors and management
-fix the damn lagg

Yup.. time to answer the question..

Hint: There is only one right answer.

Question 2: Does CCP know what the answer is?
Question 3: if they do know.. why aren't they saying it and putting water on the fire?
Question 4: Do they know their game is on fire?

I'm getting more upset with CCP still not responding.. I know it's tough to tell your fellow DEVs that they won't EACH get their own playboy mansion... but times are tough.

My guess..

Question 2: Does CCP know what the answer is? Yes.. and you're not going to like it...

Question 3: if they do know.. why aren't they saying it and putting water on the fire? Because... it wouldnt be water on the fire .. it would be extra petrol... I think we all know the answer.. The silence is deafening for a reason...

Question 4: Do they know their game is on fire? Oh yes.. but they are hoping and praying it will burn itself out.. that the problem will be less than the disaster it appears to be...

I'd venture to say that we are just so disappointed with all this...

I feel like CCP had earned the players respect for being different and open. I first started playing in 2007. All hasn't been for the best, but overall, you did great. Sure, there are broken things (FW as an example), but overall it was good. And now this Sad

I won't say it all again, it's been said all over the place, including in this particular thread for a thousand times.

Please, please, don't go down the RMT road. Please ?

You may not be a charity, but I don't get why you would be trying to milk the most out of what is existing, not caring for the consequences. Keep on creating interesting things, like you did when you created EVE, and money will flock in along with new customers...

Keep the Aurum store. Keep the vanity items. They are fluff but add depth to the game. Stop screwing the players in the *** though. We get it. You want to make money. That's fine. We, the player base, think you should be paid. ...but if you just view us as an ATM and forget about the game... Freelancer mods start looking better.

CCP you need to prove to use that these MT's WILL NEVER go beyond vanity items the second they do I stop paying you. I have already started looking for new games but await cancelling to hear what you have to say so choose your words carefully because you are clearly taking you sweet time in responding.

Damn, I have to post in this megathread and I am not overly fond of forums. My silence can be misinterpreted as support for CCP, I can't let that happen. I have been playing since 2006 and I'm currently running 3 accounts. Sadly enough I have like 6-7 months before my subs run out which makes me feeling guilty of sponsoring CCP to keep ruining the game.

My days preaching the Eve gospel is at an end. CCP, you should be ashamed of what you have become and how you behave. I am ashamed that I have spoken so well about you, ashamed. I am a bloody culprit that have made friends trust me about how great CCP is. That is a mistake I will not repeat.

Your silence and inactivity speaks louder then your lies. At this moment I can't interpret it in any other way then you buying time to find a spin that will let you keep enough players to survive and still manage to push through changes the community do not want to have.

This whole affair saddens me. I so wanted to believe in Eve, in CCP, in their vision of the future. It's just impossible to love the game and company any more when this level of abuse is going on. It isn't the kind of relationship I can accept.

I will hope for a purge in CCP, throwing out the weed to let the game flourish, and that this MT nonsense will be buried and left as a footnote in Eve history. Though I realize that is unlikely to happen :/

Coming to think of it..

Not even a year back, I was violently arguing on the ST:O forums about how EVE and CCP are an example of how a MMORPG can be run as an honest and open business, that puts players and game development first.
I was honestly on their forums, pointing at all the lackluster gameplay and unaddressed issues, the company's money-grabbing moves and told them: "CCP is doing this different. If you want a spaceship game where you don't have to pay for additional content, where you don't have to provide your Credit Card number before you even get to enter the game, check this out."

And now CCP's cash store and their plans with it can rival those of Cryptic any day of the week.

Needless to say I never signed up for ST:O.

Speaking as a Comptroller & Chief Financial Officer of a real life company I understand and accept that the continuation and expansion of this new on-line store will fall squarely on ONE thing -- did the inward cash flow exceed outward cash flow.

So in the simplest terms :

X = Amount of lost fixed income from monthly subscription

Y = Amount of variable income from in-game store

X also includes people like me who support 6 accounts with PLEX on the open market - keeping PLEX value up. Rest assured, if enough like me stop supporting the PLEX market, we do fall under X.

As long as Y > X on the average, that means company profits are going up. That means a manager made a good decision, and things will stay on course. Hell he may get a raise. Being a businessman, I accept this. I deal with it every day at work.

I have more isk than I know what to do with, and continue to accumulate more than I know what to do with. I donated over 340 PLEX in the first PLEX for good because I honestly had no other use for all my isk, and it was for a great cause. I've given it away in fake scams just because it amused me. I've helped out many corp mates with their isk trouble simply so they could get out and have fun.

In summary - I am the target market for your vanity items.

I was going to blow some isk on silly vanity items on day 1; but didn't due to inability to cash out PLEX remotely. I sent off a petition to ask if I could cash them out remotely, no dice. Oh well, maybe in time I can get to those stations and cash them out I thought - no rush.

Then I saw the leaked memo. Then it was confirmed it wasn't a fake. Then I read the memo again in detail.

Sorry, but I can not, in good conciseness, support any increase in this new variable income that will most likely contribute to the expansion of this on-line store to sell non-vanity items. The fact I can afford whatever you throw on it is immaterial. I play Eve Online to goof off with friends I've made in Veto. over the years, and quite a few of them have unsubbed. If more of them keep leaving, I will lose the biggest reason I play this game to begin with.

Quoting this again, because CCP needs to ****ing read this. I had 5 accounts, now I have one with 5 months left.

I would walk away from Eve right ****ing now, but I love my corp way too ****ing much.

CCP should count their blessings that the bonds we as player form through this game out weigh their own utter stupidity.

CCP if you aren't scared you should be you've **** all over the trust we had for you and that is dangerous. You need to stop releasing buggy expansions about stupid ****, and get back to making spaceships more awesome.

I can no longer trust any CCP employees, you have all proven unwilling to keep your word to me.

And that makes me sad, because Eve really is bigger than a game to me.

Everyone is ****ed because of the leak stating that micro transactions could possibly become more than just vanity items. No one was happy for MT for vanity items in the first place, or few were, because we figured it might lead to this, but you guys insisted that you need never allow people to pay for competitive advantages and that MT in eve would strictly be for vanity items only, so the community became tolerant of the fact that it would eventually be something we live with.

Everyone is angry because, its obvious from the leak, that within the company you guys are searching for a way to go back on your promise, and basically straight up lied to us.

WoW.

Great Deescalation move to ban highly visible forum warriors, right now.

I mean unless they broke criminal laws,
do you really think that the playerbase will see such action as justified ?

Your current actions are balanced by us against,
CCPs recent display of utter disregard for its customer base.
In its shadow violating forum rules right now, is of no importance.
This is war not peacetime.

Let me start by saying that I don't usually use the forums.
There are many things currently wrong, IMHO, with this particular expansion. Truth be told I could have lived with the current state of CQ, if it wasn't for a sad story of CCP not finishing what they start. Right now, I'm afraid we will end up with a stunted version of CQ that doesn't really deliver on any satisfying level. I don't mind being a guinea pig for WoD. I played Vampire: the Masquerade 12 years ago and enjoyed it. I would give WoD a try.

The problem is there should be no gameplay advantages for sale on EVE. EVER. I can accept vanity items (mind you most of the things aren't worth 0.01 - sorry) but the prices should be carefully thought out. Right now I can IRL buy clothes for less than that - maybe, just maybe, the people working on this should have come down to real world before screwing this up that badly.

Secondly, I'm sorry to disappoint you but contents wise, I haven't seen anything in eve that has amazed me in a long time. Heading in the current direction will take away the wonders of the game. I remember going OMG at some of the stuff I saw when I first started. Now new expansion are received with the "what will they break this time". Maybe you haven't been listening to the people who play, maybe you are full of good intentions but lack on the delivering department. Either way, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. After reading all this and watching CCP's attitude towards this whole affair, including the bans, I must say that I doubt the good intentions part.

Maybe it's time for CCP to sober up and start working with basic issues, instead of ignoring people. MMOs are based on the shared vision of players and creators. You want to force a vision on your target audience, you are in the wrong business.

the TLDR of this is:
No gameplay advantages for RL Money;
Stop making excuses, start avoiding them;
Deliver a fixed product and address valid player concerns about many of the mechanics, there are many, and there are people around who've experienced them better than I have.

It is already answered in the pamphlet in plain English on page 9. There will be ammo and ships for example sold for Aurum. This part is not in the "discussion" part, but rather a feature about how MT will work in Eve. Let me be very clear, it is not a discussion and there are no ifs and buts.

Go read the pdf for yourselves, folks. It is all in there.

Edit: Fixed the quoting.

I have to applaud CCP in a way, if it was me, then I'd be fleecing and squeezing every cent I could out of paying customers- what's wrong with that ?
Otherwise, you have no business being in business. Only mistake they made was not being smart enough to roll it in gradually.
Just like the eve market, sell things for a massive profit, what about podding someone and costing them their expensive implants? Run a scam that fleeces someone?
Not so good when it happens to you right? Well, now some of you know what it feels like to be on the receiving end.

Like many other players this game has been addictive and enjoyable for me over the years but I too am saddened by the direction the game is going. I dont have any magic buttons for you which will fix things though like many others, its not the intruduction of a new nerf or game mechanic that fustrates, its not understanding the data behind it; particularly where the intention is obscure and the impact retrograde in nature: communication is good

Secondly, understand that it is not the 'next shiny patch' that keeps us subbed so focus on gameplay and existing mechanics as fixing long-outstanding issues will keep the majority 'subbed' far longer

peace!
