I have issues with large file downloads using the client based downloader. I am always traveling and as such I use mobile internet service which drops out as I switch cells and breaks the d/l. My ISP gets very unstable with large (100mb+) d/l's and breaks the d/l when I stay on one cell tower for too long. I never have any issues with torrent D/L's as they can always resume once my net stablises.

Does anyone else have issues that would be fixed by a torrent d/l?

Chribba, If you read this, please post a torrent for those of us with bandwidth issues, once it is officially released. It would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for all you do for EvE!

Yus, also have this issue. Getting a .torrent of the client up on EVE-files would really make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Because bittorrent is so much *less* secure than conventional downloads, amirite?

Seriously, know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. Steam uses bittorrent protocol for some games.

OP use IDA aka Download Master for downloads http://www.westbyte.com/ida/index.phtml?page=download
It can resume downloads after connection loss.
Then just direct download patch from here (when link will be available)http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/server_status.php

Yea if you download straight from the eve website it is secure (unless you're a moron and your computer has been breached).

Bittorent is very secure, as long as you get your **** from a reputable source.

I do believe that if you use IE9 that it now has a fully functional download manager that can pause/resume downloads as well.

The issue with my D/L breakage is that I am usually mobile when i d/l stuff with mobile internet. When I change cells, the IP address changes as well. This breaks the browser based D/L. IE9 can resume d/l only so long as the IP doesn't change. Torrent can handle IP changes in it's d/l. Thats why it's the perfect downloader for my particular situation.

Don't have to like it, though IE9 is not as bad as people say it is.

Can we please stay on topic? Thanks. My OP was to see if anyone else had a need for torrent. It wasn't posted to discuss browsers and their weakness/popularity. I'm trying to get the interest up due to Chribba's tweet to me that he would post one "if it was needed"

Thanks guys.

I will be putting up a torrent as soon as I can yes. Just want to try verify that the version is the version, so I don't have to do it all over again.

Not in the gaming/IT community it isn't, and IE hasn't been leading there for quite a long time now.

Nor in Europe, where Firefox took the lead about six months ago.

Due my vehicle size (tractor trailer 8.5ftw X 13.5fth x 68ftL 40 tons gross wght) I don't have access to regular services like internet cafe's, Libraries, Coffee shops etc that offer wifi. A lot of the truckstops I park at offer wifi but they have a 300mb limit per day DL. Plus with only 1 access point and 300 other drivers downloading **** or streaming youtube or netflix, the connection is ALWAYS broken.

I REALLY wish the US would fix its internet infrastructure. No reason to be using 20-40 year old network. Most other countries like Japan, Korea and a lot of European countries have infrastructure that by far surpasses our net infrastructure. Pitiful it is

Firefox or other browsers might be gaining momentum, but IE is still the most widely used browser there is and probably will be for a long time to come. So, as a web developer I wouldn't be doing my job if I developed only for Firefox or another browser thats not IE which would be cutting off over 70% of potential customers for my customers.... But yeah, IE9 really isnt that bad, surpasses IE8 and earlier versions big time but again as a web developer I have to use all of them to cover all browser-usage.

First let me say, Thank you Chribba! Your services are invaluable to the Eve community.

@Melkath Bandrom, the problem is much of the infrastructure is privately owned, so the telecom companies have to pay for upgrades out of pocket. Here in the middle of nowhere West Virginia is a good example. The telephone company owns all the lines within 3 counties. Since we only have low quality phone lines, ADSL is the only viable option other than dialup. We get a 750KB connection + phone for $100 a month, meanwhile in places with larger companies that can afford to rework the entire network, they get 50Mb connections for less than half of what we pay.

If the network was government subsidized, then yea, the US would have a nice internet structure like most of the world.
