Something that repeatedly gets mentioned about incarna is bars, usually with some reference to strippers. I'm pretty sure however that if CCP simply make a style of bar for each race then we'll all get bored within the first day, there's only so many times you can laugh at pixel boobs before it gets dull.
So what I want to ask is this. What would make you want to visit a bar in incarna?
In real life a venue would attract people with music, events, alcohol and the chance to socialize so I've been thinking how to replicate this in eve. My own Idea is for a geek bar based on the back story of the Seibestor Tribe (but not an RP venue), call it Code Monkey or something like that.
PVP videos taken from you tube would be projected on the wall, modern battles could be interspersed with old footage of cavalry ravens, stuff ripped from new scientist, ted talks, nasa and whatever else took my fancy. I'd set up a voice server for chat and broadcasting audio. These are just thoughts but the point is I'd want to create a space that was somehow unique, not just a logo slapped on to generic minmatar bar #3.
What tools (if any) do you think CCP might give us to be creative with and what 3rd party programs do you think we could be creative with if we have to do stuff in spite of CCP instead of with them (EG, VLC player which is common, easy to download and can be set to stay on top of the eve client). |

Sorry man I have a horrible PC and it will do nothing but lag and crash my computer so I will cry and complain until walking in stations becomes optional! |

The old fanfest vid showed that you can arrange and pick your interior from the options they allow. NPCs: next to strippers they also talked about NPC guards that may throw people out and NPC waitresses that can get people a drink. Perhaps you can even dress them in vanity item outfits. I wonder what options they envisaged you could give your guards, can they discriminate on races (Ammar only bar), sec status (pirates only bar), gender (gay bar), standings (CN mission runner bar)? I wouldn't bet on anything. In the end I think your bar's success is more about location (Jita and surroundings, mission hubs), availability and getting regular vistors. The fanfest vid I refered to is really old (2008?) and used a different engine han the current Incarna so it may be that a lot of these options (and the corp offices) are removed again. From what I've read it's also still unclear if the summer release of Incarna will have bars at all, it seems to focus on contraband and boosters. |

Also my wife has asked repeatedly that we can watch th x-rated holoreels and bang the prostitutes.
Stupid of CCP to put them in the game and make them not useable. |

Location, location, location, that is the mantra in the modern world. If they eventually allow for player ran and controlled bars, or clubs, I would think that just like in real life you'd want your bar in a high traffic place. Putting a bar up in the ass-end of nowhere will not likely be all that profitable. Then again, maybe you can have a hook(if they allow for a new type of skills set that allows players to be DJ's) you could have players play the part of DJ's and they can come to your club to put on shows.
Imagine DJ Wiggles or DJ Squishy from EVE Radio coming to your club to put on a radio show live from your club. You'd hire them and they come to your club for an exclusive performance. The difference now is, you'd not only hear the DJ, put could watch his avatar spin records, put on a light show, and hire go-go dancers to dance at his shows... Ibiza in space! |
