It's pretty obvious that if Dust is a PS3 exclusive - then it is only a timed exclusive.
The only way for the game to survive long-term will be for it to end up on PC as well. |

Yeah, sure. To end up on system completely open to software like aimbot, uh-huh. I doubt that Dust will EVER hit PC... well, maybe only if it will fail on consoles of course. |

I've got a new idea. I think mircosoft jsut didn't want to give dust514 the coverage CCP wanted. I mean the xbox has so many exclusive shooters. For mircosoft to advertise dust514 would cut right into halo and so on.
But sony and PS3, well... Can you think of any epic shooters that have a huge playerbase still online? Maybe sony is going to sell dust5114 as THE PS3 shooter? |

Edited by: Naela Nightfall on 05/06/2011 11:06:39 Even if Dust will be revealed at the sony conference doesnt mean it wont be released on PC aswell. It is heavily rumored that PSN will get full steam integration after the successful crossplatform play between PSN and steam on portal 2. So the game might run thru steam for both platforms.
That it might be revealed on the sony conference might be because of convenience since there wont be (to my knowledge) a "PC conference". |

All I know, and not sure if someone already made the point. But theres something awkward about the Xbox360 not very keen on letting games access stuff outside the Xbox.
Ie. Portal 2 on PS3 can play co-op with PC, but the Xbox360 is 360 only, right ?

If it's PS3 exclusive CCP is not thinking straight.
They were only hacked the one time. They merely became aware of more than the obvious damage.
He was saying that Sony itself sucks, not just PSN. And Sony were hacked three separate times. Learn to read please Val, and you Tippia. |

CCP can't control injection in the eve client what makes you think they can control aimbots, speedhacks, etc when it comes to Dust? They seem to be purposely avoiding PC release because they won't be able to control the exploits. So having a P2P FPS thats littered with hackers is going to cause it to go downhill fast. |

Without a PC release Dust is certainly doomed. Console players will jump to the next FPS after a month or two, regardless how well CCP did with their game.
Even with a PC release a failure of Dust is much more likely then a success. A lot of people here have no problems with cheating in every way in order to 'win', even if that means destroying the game for everyone. |

It doesn't exist, read the article linked see speculation and that the op took one possibility and ran with it. |

As an owner of PS3 and Xbox the exclusivity issue doesn't really affect me. I'm looking forward to the release of Dust514.
In an ideal world I would prefer to play it on a PC but that doesn't look like it'll happen in the near future, however the PS3 would be my console of choice to play the game even if it was multi platfom, the hardware alone is more advanced than the Xbox.
As for the security issues, Sony may have had its problems recently, but isn't it funny how so many people jump on the 'let's bash Sony' bandwagon, yet seem to forget the many, MANY security flaws Microsoft are constanly trying to fix in a certain other product called Windows...

Hit a nerve did I? How am I a fanboy if I own both consoles? The fact that I prefer using my PS3 doesn't detract from the fact that IMO the Xbox is an awesome console in it's own right. Pointing out the double standards of peoples opinions also doesn't make me a fanboy. As for growing up? When you learn to read properly and can respond without resorting to swearing to cover up for your lack of vocabulary then you'll be in a position to tell others to grow up. noob. |

If its PS3 only, then CCP have screwed themselves, as its one console that has received more bad press than ever in the recent months, and the one console anyone security wise would ever trust or touch.
Then theres the rumor of the PS4, unless DUST will be a launch game?
Tho I will point out, when CCP advertised for jobs for DUST, they were asking for alot of 360 game designers, thus why many of us thought that it was going to be very much for the 360! |

All the more reason why Microsoft is better for this because of past experience and why Xbox live has much better security. Thats like saying you would rather pick someone on your team for a specific sport who has never played that sport over someone who has played that sport but has lost a few games. The first guy has technically NEVER lost a game, what could go wrong ? |

What did you expect when the OP made the post? That ps3 owners and xbox360 owners would play nicely in the sandbox? The Posts title alone sparked the flames you see in this thread.Jus read it and see how the OP is pokin people in the face with a ps3 controller.LOL.Either way it goes.I just hope it paves the way for us ourselves to dock in stations and go into fps mode.I can see myself,In a sleeper data sanctuary,Grabbin boxes of melted nanoribbons and makin way to the docking area.

Could that just mean CCP is in good company? Maybe they can both swap security advice. My guess is that any exclusivity deal is going to be temporary. Sony may have plied to get Dust first because they need some good press, and more FPS titles. MS is also not so easy to deal with. I doubt Dust could be profitable being exclusive to one console, especially since Sony's got some big issues to work through right now that is hurting developers for that platform. People are making this exclusivity assumption (right or wrong) because all the screen shots leaked seem to have come from a PS3, and there's the timing of course. I doubt we will ever see a PC version, and if we do, I doubt it would be connected to the same universe, because anyone playing the PC version would pwn the console players. |

One of the popular CCP arguments as to why they aren't making a PC version is that it could split up the current EvE playerbase. This never made sense to me since I play EvE for whatever amount of time, then me and my alliance mates jump over to Battlefield anyway... it'd be more beneficial for CCP to make it so I'd jump over to Dust instead, right? As it stands I'd have to buy a console to play Dust (which I probably will, because I love the idea of the game and want to be a part of it), and until this "PS3 exclusive" info has been rumored, I was pretty committed to getting an Xbox since just about every console player I know owns an XBOX...
But of course, it'd make way more sense for my alliance to log into Dust, using the same computers, same ventrilo client etc, and swarm onto a planet en masse.

If Sony did get an exclusive deal it is probably on a term....meaning xbox will eventually get the rights as well.
I am a little skeptical though given sony's network hacking issues.
I wouldn't say PS3 is an unpopular platform though..... |
