I understand that corp logos on ships is a feature
to be included in a future version of eve, but watching
the video of this made me realise that the artwork for
corp logos desperately need a facelift now. I liken them
to the same sort of quality as the old portraits and feel
that they should probably be updates to avoid looking
inferior against the increasing quality of ship models
and textures

I like this idea
Plus you could also paint ships
That would be so great

Sorry i don’t agree on painting ships, this would lead to 80 percent of the ships in eave being pink/yellow. While this isn’t really an issue in “real life space” I still prefer them to look a little dark and menacing.
Tumbes up for logos on ships though

I would love alliance paint jobs. As if 100's of Abaddon's or Maelstroms didn't look good enough Cool

Corp paint jobs, not so much.

Well, you can already paint the ships by extracting the .dds files from the appropriate .stuff files. Editing can be done with Photohop and the Nvidia dds-plugin.

Of course this will change the skins only for your client, and every ship will have the same logos/modifications.

Those skins look good BUT not everyone will have the design restraint you poses.

I already addressed this some time ago by suggesting that CCP introduce predefined patterns which can either be
bought or earned (loyalty points) or are a rare drop. To include faction paint jobs, pirate paint jobs.

Simple solution:

Don't offer a color palate. Give a selection of seven or eight reasonable base colors, and several (dozen?) cammie options that can be applied... with maybe more offered as faction or officer drops.

Because every better than t1 ship isn't already ****ing camo.

****it, camo ships shouldn't even need a cloaking device.

/rant

sorry had to get that off my chest. I actually like my corp logo, but i agree that a revampes logo creation and logos on ships would add some flavor to eve.

Probably one of the reasons they wanted to break up missioning hubs TBH.

Just to point out that Logos on Ships is a confirmed feature for some point in the future already,
this thread is not a speculative on whether Logos on Ships should be included in EVE, but rather
that the current quality of the Logo Artworks should be updated before the Logos on Ships
feature is rolled out.

The more you improve the quality for the artwork the more people will have to load. In normal situations this won't mean much, but for example, in a huge fleet battle you might have to download hundreds of different files from the server all at once. The option to turn this off and revert to normal ship skins would be necessary.

Don't confused complexity for quality, the two are not synonymous.

After catching up on the devblogs of late (after my break from EVE these last 2 months), it
seems that custom paint-jobs will be a feature in the future too, purchasable from a store
in the same way you'll purchase a logo placement on your ship. Win.

The idea is awesome, but the server would die.
