Is there anything I can do about jamming in missions other than trying to kill those jammers before they jam me? I don't usually deploy drones until everything is locked on and in close enough range. Once I am jammed though, launching drones doesn't do any good since engaging a target with drones doesn't work until I am locked on.
I spent at least 3 minutes being jammed in my first re-attempt at a solo level 4, by at least four units cycling and was about to leave until I noticed I had just been hit by a scrambler. I then released my drones because everyone was close by and targeting me but couldn't engage my drones to anything because I never got a lock.
The mission was Intercept the Saboteurs (level 4, quality 0 agent), which I assumed was an easy one because the reward for it was nearly the same as from a difficult level 3 mission (quality 18 agent).
Quick loadout description on T1 Raven
6 'malkuth' heavy missile launcher with caldari navi scourge heavy missiles
1 small NOS - trying to be a little defensive (nothing got closer than 6 KM until after I was perma-jammed)
1 250mm hybrid weapon for a little extra dps
tier 2 x-large shield booster
tier 2 mission specific primary active shield hardener
tier 2 mission specific primary passive shield hardener
tier 2 mission specific secondary active shield hardener
tier 2 cap recharger
tier 1 meta 3 target painter
3x tier 2 ballistic control units
2x tier 2 power diagnostic units
3x tier 1 large capacitor control circuit
I write this after having repurchased my raven and most of this loadout and losing about 80% of my immediate cash), going back to my level 3 mission giver I've been using to raise my standings to 8.0 for jump clones, and being jammed over 90% of the time, being cycle jammed by at least 6 different ships which is enough to not allow me to fire a shot in the last 15 minutes with my 12 second 'lock target' timer. Because of that I can't even tell my 5 drones who to fire at, so I'm waiting for them to finish off enough of the jammers so I can lock on and one- or two-shot the rest of the mission.
20 minutes after going to this mission, still haven't had time to lock on to anything and my drones were slowly eaten away until I only had 1 left that wasn't damaged and decided to warp away.
Is F.O.F. missiles the only other option in these missions? |

Unfortunately, just avoid all Guristas missions... or take a ceptor alt and have them fly around you at full speed. Then your raven is fine (make sure the ceptor takes all aggro though). |

That is a terrible fit. And that's not how you use drones. Read a mission runner guide, then come back. |

Appreciate the feedback. Here is a loadout that is very close to mine, except it has capacitor relays instead of my power diagnostics, which seem better but I assume wouldn't have allowed me to perma-tank the mission. Also, here is where I read about using drones which is what I did. Quote:
In normal PvE combat with non-droneboats, the standard procedure for drone use is to get the attention of the NPCs by beginning to attack them with your primary weapons before launching drones, to make sure that your drones don't get attacked. In some missions non-aggroed groups of NPCs may attack your drones if you launch them, or if your drones attack NPCs that you have already aggroed.

Except you missed the part where the raven uses cruise launchers, and didn't pull your drones in when they started getting attacked (because you obviously didn't have aggro). Thus you failed at taking advice from both those sources (and that raven fit is atrocious anyway), not to mention using battleclinic as a source of fits... |

to be practical, you install 4 hardeners, 4 Caldari Navy Hardeners, large shield booster, afterburner.
fill lows with BCS, damage control, ECCM, sensors - your choice.
weapon of choice... topedoes if you are Pro... cruise if you are not so pro...
your load-out is for trolling.

Yes I did not set the ammo to Wrath when I changed to Arby's cause buddy up top there does not have T2. But thanx for postin the Obvious Captain o7. Edit: Went ahead and added Wrath, backed by a Rainbow of other missiles, you should thank me, this is probably the only time you will ever see them on a ship! |

For christ sake, use afterburner at full speed, your will negate half of the damage. Pulse your shield, only activate shield when you are 28% into shield, safe zone is 20%.
this is inexpensive, CN hardeners, after burner - rather cheap and well worth the money. Also permatank is wrong, cruise your way out of enemy engagement range. You will diminish incoming DPS by 80%, turrets don't, missiles do half damage to moving objects.
Also use synthetic crash booster or blue pill booster if you not strong enough. As for the drones, deploy sentry drones, set to aggressive focus fire, move away from NPCs, sentries will continue firing. They will also soak up some damage and ECMing.

2/10 This is his FIRST attempt at level 4's and you are recommending no cap mods and no cap booster? Large shield booster? Malkuth launchers? Three rigors? Also, you don't need four active hardeners, so you'd be much better off (if you are going to fit ECCM) using one medium slot with a Conjunctive Gravimetric ECCM and reclaiming those two low slots for the same effect (which is crap, because double sensor strength in a BS isn't NEARLY enough to avoid the gurista jam festival). Just cruise out of enemy engagement range! Yeah! With your battleship that goes 200m/s. Just zoom away! Reduce incoming DPS by 80%! (EDIT: This is sarcasm.) Bad advice is baaaaaaaaaad. |
