Hi all. I'm looking for a good all-rounder Minmatar ship that can run level 4 missions.

I'm currently considering a Loki and Mael. Mael has higher DPS but is very slow compared to a Loki so that might be a problem running missions that require a lot of movement/accel gates

Any input is appreciated :)

Maelstrom is your default go-to.

If you want something smaller/faster, look to the Sleipnir. It will eat a Loki alive in L4s. If you want something nice and fast without any other compromises, the Machariel is your ship. Along with the Vargur that's your ultimate Minmatar mission ship.

Having watched a corp-mate tear through L4s in his Sleipnir, I have to concur. He doesn't need a whole lot of tank, because his DPS is ridiculous.

either go for Mealstrom, vargur or a Mach, or if you want smaller ship, use a sleipnir, dont use Loki, it have terrible DPS for lvl 4

Damn, seems like my alt's 20days training got wasted on Cruiser V.

Cruiser V is insanely valuable in every aspect of the game so i wouldnt say it was wasted.

I used a Typhoon and then a fleet issue and it was awesome ! A lot of mission runners i see (especially caldari) make fittings with a huge tank with very little dps which is a huge mistake. The Typhoon can get a lot of DPS if you focus your high slots to turrets or missiles and then take 3+ low slots on damage, high DPS is a form of tanking, if everything is dead within 3 minutes, why do you need to keep your cap stable for 5 minutes?

I considered a Loki and Vargur to upgrade to but the problem with the Loki was potentially lower dps. I belive the T3 cruisers are designed for WH ops, since they can get a really strong omni tank, Vargurs are made for L4.....it makes sense which one you should go for. I think going for an Omni tank for L4 is very lazy, takes 30 secs max to switch mission specific hardeners and your EHP will be much better in most cases.

I have the same opinion. I rarely use my other SB (I use 2x Gistii B Small SB) since I kill everything within a short amount of time (dishing out 700DPS and w/ t2 rigors).

I originally planned my alt to use a Loki to partner with my Tengu and do DED complexes (basically my friend plays my alt, but I pay for the acct and train up skills). Haven't gotten to WH stuff yet since I feel my SP isn't enough.

But L4's are doable in a Loki, right? I get around 500DPS on pyfa but the tank is only 250 omni (gets to around 300-400 w/ the right mission specific hardeners)

Once you tried Mach or Vargur, its hard to go back to anything else, the dps of a loki is nowhere near the one of a Mach/Vargur. Under 20 kms, a Vargur destroy angel BS really fast, it takes 3 or 4 more times to kill the same BS in a Loki, with a 6* 425 AC config.

Your minmatar cruiser 5 is not wasted. I'm using a vagabond and it is quite succesful for blitzing missions.

For "Kill everything" type of approach, initially go with Mael. If you have exceptional missile, drone and armor tanking skills you can make a mean missioning typhoon too.

Totally doable. Just keep the loki moving at all times and most weapons wont hit for much damage. kill Webbers first!

Indeed, Maelstrom is the best "pure" Minmatar alternative. 8 800ACs or take arties. Great DPS. Looks great. Not expensive.

Lokis have low range and not a lot of DPS, it's everything but fast when you have to fly between groups of rats. If you get webbed and have no drones you're in for a tough time and you can't track those spider drones at 7 km. I don't think Lokis are made for L4s (and neither are Legions or Proteuses). If you insist on doing L4s in a T3 better get a Tengu, 500 - 850 dps with 100 km range.

The default easy option is a Maelstrom.

Easy to get into, bonus to damage and shield boost.

Gank + tracking in the lows, tank in the meds, 1400mms ( or 800s ) on the highs, depending on the mission. With small drones to deal with elite frigs.

The better options are Sleipnir, Machariel and Vargur, but all of those will need a lot more training.

Mach or Vargur. I wouldn't put Sleipnir in the same league as them for mission running.

Might I suggest a Tengu? One size fits all!

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I'll just buy a Loki for my alt(I already have the skills so why not), then train it up to Mael and then Mach.

I beg to differ sir. Loki may have less DPS than a Sleipnir but it more than makes up for it in greater range (falloff), greater speed and a much lower sig radius

Depending on Mission i change 1 TC to an AB. I use a Crystal-Set, without i think you should better skip 1 of the TCs for an additional Hardener or upgrade to a Pithum A Med or Gist/Pith Large Booster, for the harder Missions.

i can really only agree.mach/vargur > maelstrom > sleipnir.

I've never seen a viable phoon setup for missions in general only for very specific missions and situations.

A tanking bonus(like the marlstrom, vargur or sleip) doesn't mean you get an insane tank. It means you get a decent tank with fewer slots and can use more slots for gank.

1400's is to be considered an exception. Yes they are viable in certain missions that you want to blitz but 800's are to be consodered default.

I wouldn't recomend ccc's on any of the mentioned ships. Injectors take a single slot and give more effect than the three slots ccc's take up. Use the rigs for shiels, navigation and projectile rigs instead.
