Got a teaser? Cause I remember being told that Clear Skys was sub par compared to what you were cooking up. How long you going to keep us waiting, we are all on the edges of our seats to see epicness you have conjured up.

We have faith in you, seriously.

EvE is a broken game, yet the idea is good, with a little work it could be the BEST MMORPG on the internet, but there is one major problem standing in the way.. CCP.

The company has promised countless improvements, time and time again, yet they work on features nobody requests while hyping up the prices of plexs through charity events and leaving fundimental floors in the game unfixed.

They actively encourage an environment that is counter intuitive to growth and actually only fun 5% of the time for 5% of the players involved.

So before CCP runs eve into the ground, i believe they should sell it to a competent company and walk away, before EvE turns into a ghost-town in the face of numerous new competitors (jump-gate, black-prophecy etc). Its already happening, so CCP should really think about this..

Bit late to the party but here's my two cents anyway.

I don't see how hard it is for morons like you to understand that this game is one giant continuous world with NO instances. I can't play any other MMO now because as soon as I enter some generic dungeon/instance or have to choose my server when I create my character thus forever separating myself from the majority of the playing population I think about eve and wonder why every MMO can't be done in the same way.

I don't think there is another company out there that could have made this game as successful as CCP and kept it going for EIGHT years. This game's been online longer than world of warcraft despite the constant whining of idiots like you.

Also for all you new players who repeatedly call Incarna a feature "no one requested" I can tell you that as someone who has been playing since the beginning of 2004 that back then walking in stations was the MOST talked about and requested addition to the game. There were countless threads whining about how we could never leave our ships. "Let us land on planets" they said "I want to be explore the stations" they said. So after much whining CCP begun to fulfill the request. Of course that would take time and in the meanwhile idiot new players like you with no idea of EVE development history have begun to complain that walking in stations is a bad idea, not something we want and detracting from the game as a whole.

Goes to show you can't please everyone.

What CCP needs to do is too create in game mission's and scenario's where the player pay's an entrance fee anywhere from $5.00 to $100 dollar's The player or corporation then engage in event's and mission's where each mission or event that is completed earns the player or corporation x amount of reward money that is real money that can either be converted into ISK or their national currency.

All this idea would take to implement is for serious EvE'er's to get involved and do the foot work for and then present the business model to CCP.

There are a few browser based games like Dark Orbit where you can win real money on a monthly basis so why shouldn't eve incorporate the same practice?

Yes, I'm part of the closed beta, and it's TERRIBLE.

So much so that I haven't logged into it for several weeks and still have no intention of doing so in the near future.

When a corp grows as CCP it is hard to maintain the hardcore Dev approach as the initial CCP had, the bigger company the less "morale" for the corp goals and values. Natural, and selling Eve wouldn't improve this at all, probably the opposite.

Cutting to the key points
  • EVE won't be replaced or killed by any foreseeable game. ToR may cause a slight activity drop, but that's the breaks.

  • Charity events don't detract from development.

  • I'd rather EVE be run by CCP over EA or Blizzard.

Yeah. Unless it's a complete flop (which I really hope it won't be), it'll cause a temporary activity drop, but that's it.

Beta testing it,

And there are a few reasons why Black Prophecy might fail as an alternative to eve.

1. Its entirely based on rmt. So much so that there is a little shopping cart icon in the main in-game user interface. You can click it to be taken to the "premium content" section. From there. You use real money to purchase numerous things for use in-game. This is including, but not limited to stats boosters.

2. Everything is instanced.

3. Pvp is fairly limited in terms of options available.

4. There is no player market.

There are other reasons, but so far the only positive aspect I can find in the game is that it is pretty.

Edit: didn't even realize it was open beta now. I was in the closed beta and ihavent bothered to login for awhile. Uninstalled it and forgot about it for the better.

If it was simply bugs that were causing problems then maybe I would have stayed. Seeing as the whole point of a beta test is to find and fix bugs. But the reasons I disliked it were due to fundamental parts of the game that won't change... One of the major ones being the rmt system.

Hey look, Black proficy has:

- Engine Trails
- Real looking asteroid belts/fields
- Cool impact effects (seriously ccp, hire some real FX artists, hell I'll do it for free)
- Atmospheric flight

imo CCP is the best company to run this game, anyone else would severely screw it up.

While CCP at times might not make what us players see as best choices, they are surely lightyears better than some crap EA would pull.

edit/and I played BP a while ago too, didn't like it.

Heh,

Have to agree with you about EA. In fact it was EA that shut down earth and beyond and left ccp with no competition in the genre. Large portion of us came to Eve after e&b closed its doors. Was perfect timing too, since Eve went live a short time before that.

BP is indeed looking very nice. Which is good for a video, but not neccessairly for the game.

Personally I feel a tendency that I dislike games the more the better they look - in the long run.

CCP may - just may - not be good at evolving the game at some points, but I'm entirely sure they are the best we could get.

BP is a terrible game... I tried it, played for a few days and left not too amused.

CCP does a GREAT job here.
