Are there volunteer forum mods? ISD mods? I believe their used to be, but I might be mistaken there.

That's a shame, because the forums really need more moderators (good ones) that are more consistent. Seems the CCP moderators are busy enough with their other duties and not much moderation goes on here.

The volunteer program as a whole was a huge disaster. Though it was always fun trying to play Guess The Main* by how different mods reacted to different groups. In a cut throat game like EvE having some players with special powers is just not viable.

* because volunteers tended to be bitter vets with prominent mains.

The problem with volunteer mods is that you would end up needing mods for the mods. because most would end up abusing their newfound power.

Sad too, cause I would love to be able to lock some of these threads... Twisted Evil

I really don't understand why it would be any different than any of the other ISD teams. Sure, you'll need someone at CCP to head up the team and watch over things, just like with the rest of them, but it wouldn't be that difficult. And yeah, what kind of real powers to forum mods have? Surely not anything devastatingly powerful if they decide to abuse it? Plus, it isn't hard to ban them from the job and the game if they choose to go that route.

Because in order for interventions made by a moderator to be respected does the moderator need to have a minimum in authority in the community. If you put just anybody on the job then you would be insulting the community as a whole. In other words, you cannot have enough people to help players, but you sure can have too many moderators.

You need the right person for the job...well, yeah, that goes without saying.

You then will not find any volunteers, because it is ungrateful job. The only people who are going to volunteer for such a job are the trolls themselves.

I don't know you, so I can't say....are you a troll? If not, then by your account I guess you wouldn't be.

It was too obvious to see where CCP's affiliations lay.
They still have partisan GMs though, go **** around with shipsofeve related corporations and count the hours before a GM shows up and tells you where you've been going wrong.
