I was going to suggest this to someone at fanfest, but forgot about it in the festivities, so oh well, I'm suggesting it here.

Its an idea for a new eve store item that I have run past several players with universal "awesome" responses.

Its a naglfar made of plastic or similar, with magnets embedded in the top and bottom. It hovers, free floating, in a pair of magnetic rings coming out from a stand.

and

You can spin it!

Very Happy

Someone has to say it

"Hey man, we know you like spinning your ship, so we made this floating Naglfar. Now you can spin your ship while you spin your ship"

Yeah, Nagl is the obvious first choice for that, but why not all of them?

In fact you could have little microchips and a small speaker embedded in the base of each model. Then when you bring an Amarr ship near a Minnie ship, the two would make pew pew noises Cool You could even have lighting fitted in to the top armature of the stand!

Now if you could make it with a base like this model globe

floating globe

It would be even more win!!

Oh my god my brain is totally geeking out with ideas of a display unit with those magnetic bases built into the shelves so the ships appear to float inside the cabinet!!!!!!

There could be a lighting feature!
4 low intensity lamps on the bottom of the base, pointing up to the ship like how it is when we're docked.

As a tribute to this soon to be replaced(by CQ) feature after incarna.

It only seems fitting this way.

Nice idea.

I don't think it will work. Unless maybe you put the model inside a resin sphere.

Frigates are to small to count and the Moa is just a box with guns attached.

This.
Then Papercraft a model and glue whatever is in that globe into the model.
Winning.

Papercraft may not work. I suspect weight plays a part in how that one works.
