Still consider myself something of a newb since I've only been playing about 3 months. Was kind of sporadic with my training the first month and just trained whatever caught my interest... Have buckled down a bit more recently and getting all Core Compentency to Standard soon... Also have everything needed to use T2 Shield modules and T2 weapon upgrades...
I'm really thinking I want to go for a T3 cruiser... I am a minmatar pilot flying a Hurrican right now. Mostly do missions with corp.. Occasional pvp.. and exploration when corp mates arent around.
Just checked training time and it would take me 43 days to be in a Loki... or 46 days to be in a Tengu. I already have good Medium Projectile skills but only moderate missile skills... So that would probably add some more time for the Tengu training.
Which one would you reccommend training for to do mostly pve... some pve... and exploration since these T3 ships are supposed to be able to re-fit to do everything. |

Go for the Loki. Reasons:
1) You already fly a cane, a Loki handles similarly
2) Fighting with guns is more fun than fighting with missiles
3) The Loki makes an excellent exploration/PVE/pvp ship
4) It can shield tank or armour tank. |

Go for the loki......cos it's simply cooler. Minmatar all the way my boy, train those missile skills too, you'll need 'em later on. You can cross train to caldari in the future..... it'll be much easier as you'll already have shield/missiles trained up cos you'll already be an awesome minmatar pilot |

Tengu is better than the loki at all 3 - PvE, PvP and exploration. Missiles are easy to train for tech 2 aswell, so training missile skills isn't that much effort.
In short, if you can help it, fly the tengu. Only thing a Loki is great for is heavy tackling (long range webs, point, loads of plates and resists). |

I would strongly recomend the Loki.It beats the Tengu in most fields, with the exeption of mission running. Also its funner to fly with ACs  . |

I don't fly all 4 but general consensus says something like:
Tengu >>>>>>>> Loki >>>> Proteus > Legion
Not sure if the number of arrows is 100% precise but you get the picture ... |

loki does shred light ships with the armor/web combo of subs better than the tengu, also works great as a better all round, higher alpha arty cane. ofc in link mode does the best skirmish bonuses in the game
other than that, the tengus better. |

I think the Loki has more usefulness in PVP then Tengu... And I agree with someone else saying AutoCannon/Arty Cannon are more fun then missiles. Missiles are to much just point click and wait for them to land...
My only concern is if the Loki is good enough for PVE... Level 4 missions in particular... And the harder ones like Extravaganza or Assault or Words Collide... CAN the Loki do these level 4 missions SOLO in amount of respectable time? |

I agree with everyone else who states get a Loki! It is very much pleasured when I, with a Legion, see a Loki come in the Drone Room or any other survey site, and get mad because they can't get the kills as fast as I... gotta love it!!! hehe Anyway! I say go Loki! Less competitive for me!!!  |

Nope. The Tengu is better in every aspect for PvE. The only places where I needed a Loki, were a few of the higher-end Blood Raider/Sansha plexes. Even then, I was blitzing, not clearing, the sites. |

That'll be Tengu, Tengu and Tengu. And I do fly both ships. Loki is bloody awesome in PVP, but subpar in PVE, where most of your activities are. Tengu is so much better on PVE it's not even funny, idk what those people that recommend Loki are smoking. My advise: train for Tengu first, for PVE, then Loki, which will be your exclusive pew pew ship. |

tengu replaces loki 100% in PVE. in no situation is loki better.
On the other hand Loki will never be the tengu in pvp. They have very different roles altogether. I use my loki/prot if i need to lock someone at gates, or i need a huge buffer but i still stick to tengu if i need a pwnmobile against a small group of ships. |

I used to think the Tengu was ugly then I got a Loki. My eyes are still bleeding. They're both good ships but yeah, the Tengu rules PVE. |
