Hereīs my idea for a goal for roaming gangs of all sizes which I think would be good fun for everyone:
1. Why not make the custom offices vulnerable to electronic attack frigs with a hacking module? They could hack into the sov payment system and transfer a percentage of the usual sov bill from the sov holding corp/alliance to all fleet members. That surely would be an incentive to form a defense gang instead of hiding in a station. And who wouldnīt love to steal from oneīs own favorite reds?
It also should be very easy to balance as you can easily scale the amount of money being transfered (more in station systems or less if you bring a huge blob of attackers e.g.) as well as the difficulty and duration of the hacking process. And it would give the electronic attack frigs a nice new role. An HD fleet could attack the entire fleet or try to kill the eFrigs, even simply bomb them at the custom office if severely outnumbered.
2. A second, more conventional idea is to make the custom offices vulnerable to simple dps attacks, those lowering the indices of the system. This could target the carebears by lowering the industry and military index. Or - even more interesting - it could slowly lower the sov index. This would provide a fun chance for a medium sized attack which would scale between todays (very ignorable) roaming gangs and a full, all hands on deck invasion force.
Any thoughts? I think this could greatly enhance the roaming gang experience. Small to mid sized fights are usually a lot more fun than the large fleet warfare anyway... and a lot easier on the servers too.
