Thank you for another extended downtime without proper announcement.

You really do live up to the expectations!

So what extreme inconvenience does this 20minute longer DT cause you?

I had a very tight schedule to complete something after DT which will expire unless I do it fast and then having an appointment in RL.

The point is not the 20 minutes, the point is not knowing...

Probably the inconvenience of living in the real world for the extra 20 minutes.

Just switch to Sisi for an hour and "schtroke yur Titan".

What was it? If it is expiring why don't you do it before the DT, since you now know the DT is extended?

Can't do that. They are taking down the SISI server for an unscheduled downtime so I'm guessing there is more to it.

Because there isn't enough time now.

What is it? I can see this causing minor inconveniences, but nothing that really matters or can't be postponed for a bit.

Everything is only "minor inconveniences" and doesn't really matter (it's only a game, DOH).
However somethings do expire (auctions, missions, couriers, PI cycles, bill deadlines, remaining POS fuel, wars, etc.) and missing that deadline will cause some damage that cannot be reverted immediately.

It all can be reverted with effort of course...

Oh is it an Alliance bill that will expire? Very Happy

I'm not really interested in theories, and most of those can be postponed or handled in a way, that only make you look stupid if you left them so close to expiring, that a 20 minute DT extension will cause any issues. So what happened to you?

EDIT:

The point I'm trying to get at here is that either this is a minor or imaginary issue and a pointless whine, or there is a problem with unpredictable downtime times and CCP should alter things so players have the tools to avoid such situations. Either way vague hints about what areas might have problems in this area are entirely useless. You can either say what the issue is directly and specifically or you know it really isn't an issue.

Yeah, like I'm really telling here.
"Ohhai, my other hobbies are nude jogging in Alaska and swimming in the ocean after giving myself 20 cuts with a razor blade".

Don't always think one person needs to do one click.
This is an MMO.
Several people are involved.
Not everyone was online before DT.
Not all live in the same TZ.
We planned more time than is usually needed.
And yes, hindsight is 20/20 vision.

The point is it's bad service and they tend to forget announcing that more often lately.
Don't tell someone just had the brilliant idea to make startup tests 55 minutes before regular DT starts and everyone went "HELL YEAH! We'll do just that!"

Even the in-game warning were saying 30 minutes until the shutdown.
If I hadn't switched characters 40 minutes before DT I wouldn't have know at all...

The reason for the downtime was due to start up tests for the final Incursion release. It was announced in the News Center an hour beforehand as well as on the MOTD.

There is a patch we'll have to download. How do they make a patch with no planning?

When startup tests are happening on Tranquility you will generally see the 'incompatible protoco'l message.
The reason for this, is that we are testing the startup of the future build.

When downtime finishes at 11:50 the correct build will be available,

In other words,no patch is being deployed today, hope this helps!
