Whenever I see gatecamps they are always done awfully inefficiently. A mass of players camping only 1 gate at a time, or just sitting there taking turns being shot by sentries and needlessly sacrificing gank for tank and making themselves painfully obvious.

What we do when we gate camp is much more effective. We sit off grid aligned to the gate. Our cloaked scout sits on the other side of the gate and hammers the directional scan at a direction and range that means that any incoming targets will be landing on the gate. When he sees something worth killing he gives the word and we all warp to the gate to catch them as they appear on our scouts side them jump through. Not only does this cut down on your exposure to gate gun fire and allow you to fit for more damage as you don't need to worry about tanking the sentries for more than say 20 seconds and help to disguise your profile from potential gate-busting fleets but it also allows you to catch targets you wouldn't be able to.

If we see something that is likely to be a scout we just let it pass, doing this we have caught plenty of Freighters, Faction Battleships, normal battleships, small gangs and more. Players who are smart enough to scout usually know how to fit their ships better too. Or have something much more worth protecting. Boy were they surprised to see 20 of us waiting for them on a gate that was clear only seconds ago.

Furthermore if the gates are in a cluster somewhat close together you can project this tactic to camp multiple gates at one time with your full fleet.

Scout for battleships/ I use battleships for scouts then jump the fleet outta wormholes like a ninja when you take the bait and none of your camp scouts see that coming your like which gate did they come from wtf were watching them all are scouts are SPAIS and then all your tackle drams go down in fire cause I fit all small guns on BS's with like 5 trackers

I can see a serious downside to your "novel" gate camping tactics..
You wont be jumped by a fleet of carebears if you are not static at a gate and loads of carebears usually have really nice loot=p

Also it is way to low risk if you do it like you do, and risk is what makes the boring gate camps a lot more interesting.

So let me recap this.

I am the poor bastard that is warping to 0 on the scouts side. He sees me on the scan ,he gives the word, you warp to the gate, jump through.
You attack with me already at gate at 0, I tank for 3 seconds, jump to the other side maybe only one tackler that did not agress can jump behind me. I jam [please insert random action to break point] and ... Shocked

This is the start of the mindframe that will soon change him into a blobber, the thing that is singlehandedly ruining EvE PVP.

Soon he will never venture out to PvP space unless he has 10 friends covering his ass and will not engage a t1 frigate unless he has a fleet behind him.

It's sad.. Really.

Whats so great about this? I've killed plenty of you "pro gatecampers" with a bait maller and a bridge. The campers die super easy because they went lol gank and not tank. Are you one of those that complains about getting blobbed when your plan to kill a maller with 6 people backfires?

I will say this: People who really know how to camp gates like pros (and actually do so) are very few and far between. Most people who camp gates miss a lot of potential targets and end up getting ganked, while most people who really know how to camp gates do something else instead.

Posting in a fail thread.
Anyone who knows how to camp are very unlikely to get ganked. People who sit on a gate with GCC deserve to be ganked.

OP - Where did you see such stupidity?

If u are able to catch ppl with scout, they are obviously not smart and fail at scouting. Just saying!

****, I've always wanted to be a pro gatecamper, but have never been able to figure out the complexities behind it. Now, with the help of this epic step-by-step guide, I can finally fulfill my dream of sitting in the same system for hours on end waiting to hit f1 with 20 of my friends.

Confirming that my dscan does not scan out to 10,000 km, and that I do not use D-Scan at all while scouting.
