Belt and mission rats tend to drop all sorts of nifty modules, yet there is no evidence of these modules ever being used.

Why?

When's the last time you saw a rat launch and use a drone?

Aside from sleepers, when have you ever seen rats use shield transfers, remote reppers, and the such?

Seems to me the game would be a lot more interesting if the average belt and mission rat were to behave a bit more like the sleepers..............and a bit less like some automated bot programme.

Just sayin............

If the belt rats dropped what they ACTUALLY used, you'd be mighty dissapointed

Well if they dropped what they used we would never have to loot them again as I can't see a market for large guns doing 5dps.

I think the OP was why not have them use what they drop now. Not drop what they use now.

I thought rat meta levels were in the negatives. Nice to know they branched out from there Laughing

So basically NPCs are armed with dual 250mm rails loaded with iron S?

This old chestnut

Think about the prices of named 100mn mwds

What happened when the drop tables changed the last time?

Actually, I think I support this. I don't own any T2 BPOs so flooding market with cheaper, easier to fit and 100% effective as T2 modules would not bother me in the least lol

CCP have looked at T2 close range ammo, so they are certainly aware that pod pilots are far from foolish. Why touch harder to fit T2 when T1 has nothing but positives to it's use?

Who knows? Perhaps t2 plates will one day be better than T1 outside of isk cost

You want to know why the rats don't use what they drop?

Heres why: If I programmed eve, I wouldn't program the rats to randomly generate the loot when they spawned. That would be a waste of server time (a rat that spawns at the arse end of low sec may never be killed between when it spawns and the next downtime).

The logical approach, backed up by the slight but noticeable lag between when a rat explodes and when its wreck appears, is that the loot you find in a rat wreck is rolled for and created upon rat death. Its not flying around with a warp core stab in its cargo hold, when you kill it, the server picks the slip of paper labeled "WCS" out of a hat and plops one in the wreck.

Hence, when you are fighting it, it doesn't have any of the modules it drops.

And before you ask, no, rats don't need to have them generated on spawn so they can use them. Lets not take steps backwards in server-side efficiency. If you think current rats aren't challenging enough, ask CCP to give them the new sleeper AI.

I wish NPCs flew real ships with real fittings and dropped their fittings and basically worked like players (except with very low/non-existent skills to make up for being non-capsuleers). Thus, the same combat fittings would work against NPCs and players, and they'd be challenging to fight instead of just requiring more tank and more DPS.

My ultimate dream is that EVE NPCs would be almost indistinguishable from players. There would have to be fewer of them to make up for the challenge, of course. Fun PvE in my EVE? Probably not any time soon, if ever, but it'd be cool (although incursions sound like a step in the right direction).

How do you know you didn't interrupt those guys in the middle of their battlship-mining op, huh? Oh, and those Signal Distrortion Amps… well, he had just bought them for his last savings and was carrying them home in the biggest ship he could find in hopes of not being ganked (and then you came along and did it anyway you evil bastard!!)

I guess it depends on the rats you fight. They may only do 5 DPS per gun but howcome they always seem to have 8 turrets, 8 launchers and still have defender missiles? I wanna do that but with the good DPS...

Yeah they drop Webs, MWDs, and scramblers - all stuff that I am always very glad they didn't use.

I think they are using rubber band cannons.

Ship scanning a rat will show you what they are going to drop, not what they actually use. So the next time you have an officer spawn, ship scan it first, then if it will drop something worthless, give a blue its location for 1bil... Twisted Evil

As a person that runs level 4s with a SNI, Domi, Abaddon and drake. I can say that level 4 missions, no matter which one, are way too easy. I used to die to them, now I just kinda hope that I can salvage the thing before I blow up the last NPC. Here's to hoping that the invasions are good ****.
