Very simply, take a standard spacecraft and introduce a variant that looks different but has exactly the same stats.
This will do things to the market, I don't know what, I am not good at market. But I think that is a surmountable problem.
In more detail: Each ship in Eve gets a variant, which looks different, but behaves exactly the same. It could go by a naming scheme like "Omen Mod 0" [What we have now] "Omen Mod I" [Same stats, different appearance] for the Omen cruiser. Or maybe "Omen Alpha, Omen Beta" Whatever.
During creation and production of the ships, the producer can decide what type he's making, without needing completely new or different blueprints, simply as a selection at the last stages in production.
In terms of rolling this out... creating the assets for as many ships as there are in Eve all at once is probably biting off more than can be chewed. So perhaps staggered releases - Frigates first; 3-6 months later, cruisers; 3-6 months later, battleships; and so on.
The goal of this is to create more diversity in ship designs while impacting the game as little as possible so that people do not need more skills to train, more blueprints to buy or anything of the sort to enjoy some new and interesting spacecraft designs. |

Not needed, what is needed are reasons to fly 75% of the ships: the removal of the tier system and rebalancing EAS and CS might be a good start for that. |

I agree this is "not needed" but my wife tells me having eve installed on a computer is "not needed."
I like the idea. I totally think my shield rupture with a prop rig *is* the millennium falcon! I'm shooting stuff and thinking "I'm f-ing Han Solo flying the f-ing Millenium Falcon!!!"
That is until I look at the ship. I'm not going to bad mouth it. I know different people like different things. I just can't get into these vertical ships. Ships should be banking when they turn and maneuver not just upright like a toothpick. (don’t give me the truth about physics in space give me something that looks like the f-ing millennium falcon.) I think the vertical ships are weird. I guess that is the point of the op. Give us some variety in how they look.

Not for or against this tbh.
However I could see this being a huge undertaking for CCP. Re-skinning is one thing perhaps, but redesigning every ship (including anchor points for turrets etc.) would probably involve a massive amount of man-hours which at this time could be better spent elsewhere.

EVE is not "Star Wars Online".My point being all fictional universes are going to contradict each other. Your ship doesn't have to look or act like the Millenium Falcon because EVE is not the Star Wars universe. |

Why would a ship in space need to "bank" to turn? Sure you could do it to make it look "cooler"...but physically it would be pointless. |

-1 unfortunately you must see nothing but drakes and scimitars like I do.
Therefore the game is broke, and this will not fix it :) |
