So, I've heard the PvP in EVE is great, and I wanted in on some of this action. Having been mostly carebear so far, I decided to dip a toe into PvP before diving it, so I fit a t1 frigate, updated my clone, found some low-sec space nearby and headed off. And then I looked. And looked. And looked.
Where's all the PVP?! I flew around low-sec systems for hours, checking local to see if anyone was actually undocked and if they were trying to find them in the belts. I found nothing. One time I saw a rifter briefly in a belt but he warped out before I could point him. That's it. I spent 3 hours looking for a fight, and I saw about 1.5 seconds of a rifter hull before he ran.
Okay bad luck maybe. That was yesterday. I jump on again tonight, since I docked in low-sec, and head out looking for a fight once again. Same thing this time, minus the brief glimpse of the rifter. Flew around for 2 hours, nothing. I even tried looking at Dotlan for the most violent low-sec systems and went there, STILL nothing going on.
So where's the PVP at? |

Sometimes you get people sometimes you don't. I usually find people in belts though usually atleast once every hour. Maybe you should try a busier system? |

You have to factor in location and what time it is, activity drops here and there. Use star map and look for ship destroyed/average pilots and then correspond that with sec level of systems. Aimlessly roaming around low sec wont get you very far unless you plan your route ahead.
If you want to start pvping in low sec, I'd suggest a drake. The frigate wont get you anything. |

All great advice except for that last line. You can have a lot of fun in a frig, with the bonus that you wont lose it to every gatecamp you see. If you wanna fly a frig, use a frig, youll have a good time. Try busier FW systems, the above mentioned systems like Tama and Amamake, Old Man Star, or come down to Evati, usually some foolishness going on here. Most of losec is empty. Find the parts that arent. Get quick on the dscanner and be patient. |

Alcari, I hear you about looking and looking and looking. Like they said, you need to go to Amamake or Old Man Star. But even these places are somewhat empty these days, youll find gatecamps frequently, but that's not very fun. Yeah just go to one of those systems, patrol the belts, look for other frigates to kill, oh and make sure your loadout is good and you have a decent tactic for fighting other ships your size. Attack a cruiser once in a while and get pwned. Youll die lots and then figure out how not to die so much, then youll start pwning somewhat. |

lowsec's pretty hit-and-miss, some places are almost completely deserted, and others are very target rich.
if shooting stuff in a frigate's what you're looking for,I have to make the contractually obliged RvB plug. two corps, who do nothing but shoot at each other... Ingame channel's "R-V-B" swing by and chat someone up |

Try these in no particulat order:
Tama, Amamake, Rancer, Irnin(the minmatar low sec system near ryddingjorn.), Doh can't remeber them all but in generall the systems near FW hubs tend to have lots of targets and blobs and even something to kill.
In general the gates at/to best "spots" tend to be regularly manned by low sec. pirate gangs/FC blobs so your best bet to get something to kill and not get swarmed/hot dropped by carriers... Is to keep doing what you do now at less crowded systems and hope to get lucky. |

This. Also, stealth bomber + naptrain jumpbridge is very satisfying. |

PvP in Eve usually occurs in one of two methods.
It's better stated as PPPPPPPPvV (Multiple players vs victim).
Alternatively it be likened to a bad night hunting snatch at bars. You could find it in five minutes or hunt for all night, and whether it lasts 5 minutes or hours depends on the condition of those involved when it happens.

Got a chuckle out of that. :> Low sec solo/small scale PvP is feast or famine. Sometimes they're lining up on the belts, the next week not a single ship may catch your glimpse. Look for targets around low sec systems/pockets adjacent to a couple of high sec systems, get good with the scanner, get to know the people of your hunting grounds and have a little luck. Also don't focus only on how many fights you get, but also how often you could avoid being blobbed, baited etc. In low sec, keep in mind that a lot of things are part of your PvP, not only shooting at ships. Plenty of things to master or fail at. |

have you tried the 0.0 systems (delve, fade, fountain area) but probably shouldnt unless you're flying with a gang. you can also try Jita but you'll lag like crazy, Perimeter has can baiters on occation. Ignoitton (bad spelling) which is a deadend lowsec system almost always has people in it. Check the lowsec systems around Jita and major trading routes, ect. Theres a near guarentee you'll find at least someone there |

FYP. Also, go to nullsec, forget carebear 2.0 FW. Just don't join the nC and you'll have a good time. |

I went 1 jump into providence nullsec and in less than 30 seconds the system population went from 3 to 30 with 2 dramels, 2 hurricanes, a few intercepters, and a few battleships with less than -5 sec came to say they wanted me to stay longer... needless to say, if you want to find PVB (player vs blob) go into nullsec where the mega gankers live |
