I know that some countries require all realistically styled BB guns have bright orange paint around the muzzle, some others require the entire weapon to be painted. Though these don't necessarily mean that the weapon is fake, that goes for red tape too.
In the United Kingdom you're not even allowed to walk around with a toy, no matter how obvious it is that it's a toy.
It's probably best that you leave the gun at home and hope that your costume doesn't depend on it, though a costume that is only identifiable by the presence of a gun is a baad costume, so I wouldn't worry about it.

With the right paint job ANYTHING even a fully functional AR-15 can be made to look like a toy. So break out that paint. |

Edited by: Lance Fighter on 26/10/2010 02:50:03A party hat should do the trick. Otherwise, perhaps a red plastic cup? edit depending on what you plan on wearing, it might be entertaining to work it into, say, a fancy looking wizards staff. Or.. a pirate's flintlock.. a ninjas throwing star? ok, maybe not. |

Why? Just tell them you really, really enjoy selling items and then recommend the more expensive ones. |

Chances are your manager will most likely make you remove it anyways

why not just buy an actual, brightly colored fake gun instead?
less effort ftw? |

the way I read the OP was:
'im going to be dealing with possibly unruly customers on halloween night, and I want to bring my bbgun to feel safe'
apparently, everyone else read 'i want to make a gun my costume for halloween' |

Where do you live? If it's the UK as a member of the airsoft comunity I suggest you leave it at home, even if an officer says it's ok it doesn't stop some dumbass calling the police. Things are getting a bit silly in the UK when the Airsoft comunity is supposed to be self policed loads of stuff is going wrong, like imports being seized even though leagal Etc.you want to take a gun out, go to a toy store and buy a plastic one. If you want to take this one out? wrap the noxel in read tape so there is no visible barrel, open it up and take out the trigger, leave the clip at home. If you damage it trying to take out the trigger it's your own fault. I have no love for people taking their airsoft guns out in public as they risk ruining the sport every time they do. Also if you don't live in the UK, feel free, advice above :) |

As others have said before, I would check with your manager to see if it is okay to use a fake gun as a prop for your costume at work.
If it is all clear then, again as said above, break out the paint.
EDIT: Cleared up the mess that was the second sentence.

Edited by: Barakkus on 27/10/2010 15:31:10 I wouldn't even bother, you'll get shot whether it looks fake or not if you get stopped by the police. They regularly shoot small children with toys. |

When my mum in lived in Calafornia and I went to visit her once I heard a story about a local wacko who went round with a cardboard cut out of a gun. He was known for doing this. But this still did not stop the local police from shooting him dead one day. |
