My miner alt was female (me = male) then I ended up giving it to one of the females in my company who happens to play. :P
Don't think anyone out here would be surprised at how many males have female avatars...sexy Khanids ftw. Just saying. |

This is often asked, and statistically speaking easy to answer. We know that the EVE actual female population is somewhere around 6% tops, and we estimate there are roughly 30% female characters. Assuming it's a similar percentage of females that play male characters as males that play female characters, you get the answer. 68% males playing male characters 26% males playing female characters 4% females playing female characters 2% females playing male characters = 100% of game's population That's the best guess so far, if the above assumptions are correct. |

It's a game. I don't play it to "hit" on other players so it doesn't really matter if the "female" avatar is being played by a "guy" or not. If you are looking to "hit" on girls in-game, I could see where this would be an issue. Girls out-of-game are more fun though.  |

ITT you will see plenty of guys as girls defending themselves,
Or guys as girls pretending so they can maintain they are girls IRL and milk the implied benefits of being a girl.
Maybe the genuine article who is happy and comfortable just to say sup ~~~~~
What you wont find is girls who game and probably play as guys (or at least just dont admit to being G.I.R.L. just to avoid the male nerdy chauvinist crap they would face if they fessed up. |

Had a female avatar for about a week, felt real uncomfortable making a feminine character do the disgusting things male characters do without a blink.
Maybe I subconsciously identify with the character I'm using, and just didn't have the psychological makeup to be a "female."
I put her back in the recycle vat, realizing her short but tragic existence was a mistake. I guess a lot of male players don't have a problem with female characters, but I'm not one of them.
I do regard all female characters as males in disguise, tho. Usually the bragging and foul-mouths are a dead giveaway. |

Have a few female chars (I am male). Habit picked up from other mmo's. Can look at a dude for months on end or see a female...I opted for female. Seeing a guys ass for months as you walk around wow/warhammer/etc...not my scene.
Course in eve I also compress the side view to not see the pic and don't ogle at the character sheet for hours and this games gives equal stats to everyone as the start....so it don't really matter end of the day. But old habits die hard.

Pretty sure it's quite a difference between simply using an avatar that doesn't accurately represent your physical attributes IRL and actually self-identifying as the opposite sex (tranny). Not that there's anything wrong with that; if you want to self-identify as a patch of moss, that's cool with me. Your corpses all look the same anyway; Grey and frozen. |

That was pretty much the same reason I made a female Achura char. Wanted the good stats, but didn't want a char that looked like that.  |

i got 2 chars that are male and rest are female. reason: achura males look horrible and i bought one char that was female. i have 7 characters total (characters.. not accounts :P)
iv played many MMOs and i try to allways take a male character... unless its some kind of a reason not to take it :P like the achura case. |
