Bleh been busy over there trying to correct some potential good entries with some results managed to fix eight entries I think. Not easy as it seems when you have a carebear of an artist throwing himself between you and the other artist. Also I cannot help my own excitement, its almost like christmas eve for me, even though my chances of winning are nearly slim considering what all I've browsed though so far. I also know 15 page links to deviant art gallery pages would break the limit by, 4 links i think it was if i made the format to announce the ship name, class, and artist |

I just want to know if mine was disqualified for some reason. I didn't receive anything for entering, but I don't see how I violated any rules of the contest either... Who do I contact about this? I couldn't find any information on the contest page. |

I also didn't receive anything for entering.
I did however get a 30 day CD key to start a new account in eve (somewhere in the middle of the contest)
I think noone got disqualified as long as they followed rules:
Six uncolored, line drawings + (7th rendered view)
Made specially for the contest
Had a length shown on the submission (plus the ship couldn't be shorter then 50m or longer then 1km)
Didn't had any signature or watermark
and
didn't use any 3rd party textures

I have yet to receive anything for entering aswell. The 30 key IS the gift for entering if i understood correctly, which is massive lame as it can only be applied to new or trial accounts. No mail/message on my deviantart inbox end yet. |

Well, I guess it gives me some comfort that I'm not the only one affected. I lost track of the number of hours it took me to draw my idea to spec in all six views, and that was with tracing paper! I can accept not winning (there were likely plenty of artists more talented than me who entered). But, if I had been disqualified for a minor discrepancy in one of the views, that would just make everything feel like a waste of time. Almost like I should have simply used a modeling program from step 1; started with a cube, spliced it a few times, extruded a few faces, and polished it up to come up with one more gigantic, fully textured, space gun with rocket boosters and been able to call it a night. There were some really good digitally created designs submitted that make the use of pencil and paper seem cartoonish. |

I agree. I was all excited that after about 20-30 hours or so of drawing, it looks great on the 14" x 17" sheet it is on... but when I scanned it in and got it into photoshop and submitted it, it looks like trash compared to the ones done digitally. I don't think that the 30 CD key is the "in game item" they were giving to people who entered. I also don't know if there is a way to redeem an in game item from a code that would be emailed out from Deviant Art. |

TBH this is what I expected out of DA... A couple of the final entries are really good, most of them don't fit in Eve. But - really?Also note that no paper and pen were finalists, and only 2 of the finalists were not active DA users. |

Edit: of course this is exactly what I expected, and the reason I left deviantart in the first place. Hopefully the utter **** job of judging they did will ensure that nobody ever trusts them with a serious contest again. |

Wow, most of those choices are terrible. One of them is just a rectangular box shown from 6 different angles (nevermind the fact that it's just a boxy Catalyst), and TWO of them are ships with a hole in the middle. What, one totally not-Eve-like donut ship wasn't enough, DeviantArt? |

I have to chime in with what has been said here: The semi-finalist selection is pathetically poor.
The Tsunami and the Cyruk Velam are good, but the rest are far inferior from many of the overlooked entries, and none of the best entries made it into the semi-finals.
(I'll admit that I like the Vision, but the chances that a Jovian ship will be made the winning entry? Zero.)
This contest is a huge Fail, with the blame lying at Deviant Art's door. |
