So I'm getting a solo pvp command ship. The obvious choice for me is the Sleipnir. Now the thing is, you get that nice falloff bonus. Most fittings I find though rely on 3 gyros, only 1 TE and no speed rigs/mods. Sure, the base speed is fine compared to other Command Ships, but if you fly solo and get tackled by anything faster that you can't mid neut to death, you're **** out of luck.
A standard HG Crystal Sleipnir with 1 TE and no speed mods would get me (CS skill 4) ca 1200 dps burst tank (Dread Guristas XL), 1300 m/s and 660 dps with EMP @19 falloff or 525 dps with Barrage @29 falloff. All of this without heat and drones.
A HG Slave (+other speed imps) Sleipnir with 1 TE, 1 nanofiber and 1 polycarb rig would get me ca 790 dps burst tank, 1950 m/s and the same range with 590 dps EMP, 470 dps Barrage, except if I drop the polycarb for an ambit extension.
Imho if you have to tank 1200 dps you are probably alreads scrammed/web or in a similar situation where even double the tank couldn't save your sorry ass. Whereas with the nano fit you can avoid that situation and have a far greater advantage in truly being able to pick your fights - even after they have begun.
What's your take on that? |

Use jump clones and buy two sleips so you don't have to compromise on the rigs. Fly the snaked one for fast hac gang goodness and the crystal fit for baiting. |

If you want to run away, buy a vagabond/cynabal instead. Anything but a crystal set is heresy for a slephnir/maelstrom/vargur. Just my take on it though. |

It's nano fit not ******ed wow 700 dps tank that makes a ship solo pvp viable. And the 100mn mwd sleip you can even run solo with if you burst your mwd. You either nano it like there's no tomorrow or listen to these ******s talking about ACTIVE TANKS in SOLO pvp :)) |

It gets a SB bonus AND a falloff bonus combined with a decent base speed. So why on earth isn't it worth thinking about boosting the speed further, making use of the falloff bonus more efficiently and mitigating damage as well that way? I DO know most Sleipnirs aren't nano'd and go with crystals+blue pill. Just saying for range kiting a non implant bonused SB that can "only" get you to slightly above 1k with pill and heat might be viable. Only 2 people actually answered to that thought. You come up with a Logi+100MWD idea when the OP is about solo work. |

a 100mn mwd slep with all nano's agility implants and nomads with tech 2 rigs aligns in 18.6 secs and goes 6700m/s on o/h, good luck using that in a fight |

its maths and balls. A cheaper cane will be X% as effective, no doubt a well fit sleipnir will be better defence and offence and proably speed. Whether that extra power over the cane is worth the extra isk and bullet magnetness is upto the pilot. Rich and ballsy? get a sleip Poor and reckless? stay with the canes EDIT: worth noting here that snakes will make a normal cane far better at a minimal risk of loosing the implants in lowsec. |
