It's currently got well over a million players and climbing fast. I expect it to be a rather big thing.

Oh, and just to clarify, not just the beta is f2p, but the entire game after release too. Which is swell. I assume they plan on selling advertising space on the billboards i fly past in excess of 200kmh, which is fine with me. Beats the hell out of a certain tank oriented game which will demand real world monies for gold coins to use some things.

You probably managed to COMPLETELY miss the "BOOST Points" (for cash) thingy. So no, doesn't beat the hell out of WoT, they're doing exactly the same thing.

Not even a little bit.

Boost just lets you gain rep or credits faster from the things you do. There are no items, cars, or game functions which can only be accessed via paying real world money.

In WoT the only way to get the best shells and equipment are through paying cash, some tanks can only be bought with real world money, and you can't even form a squad with your friends without having a premium account, which you also need to pay cash for each day you want it active.

Nothing is restricted from you if you don't want to pay cash. And if you're a good driver you'll still make more rep and cash in a race against a terrible 'boosted' character.

I was under the impression that was how the WoT system was run as well.

Nah, there's all kinds of things which can only be bought or done through using gold, and to get that you'll have to pay.

Right now everyone in beta is being fed gold on a regular basis in order to test those features, but as soon as beta is over, so is the free ride.

Tanks, racing cars, tanks racing cars. tanks all the way. and its always the same with all free mmo's you can pay for extras if you need to. in WoT the ammo does help but you dont really need it. ive not seen any modules costing gold except one tank per class.
Plenty of tanks either way

It's not about which game is better. I like blowing things up as much as i like travelling at breakneck speeds.

As for the new items, they were released in the last patch, and give distinct advantages to paying customers like being able to repair the most armor in battle or even having an automated fire extinguisher on board. If they want to go that route, that's fine really, but lets not have any illusions about what's going on.

Looks good, runs well, but you have to use one of the small list of officially supported controllers or you're stuck with the cursor keys and no option to redefineSad

Ok it's still in beta, so I guess they'll sort it out soon™ but until then back to NFSMW, Dirt2, Grid or one of many games that work with my PS2 pad and USB converter.
