sounds like the OP is difficult to please and more hard work than is worth the effort.

Eve's learning curve is a steep one, you are either cut out for it or not.

With so many trades, skill paths, and associates to find, learn and enjoy the universe is your oyster.

It just takes some common sense and the ability to read and understand tutorials.

This is the reason I still think they new character creation change was a bad one.

With the old system(minus the attribute distribution) you had a somewhat decent amount of SP to play around with. Aswell as a general idea on skills to go after based off of the profession you choose.

No, I think you hit pretty close to the mark.

OP, your only real limit to your options in EVE is your own imagination.

Perhaps buy a Merlin and go find a gate camp? Very Happy

I simply dont know what to do, can I get a refund for the 28 days left on my subscription?

I somewhat sympathize. I think one of CCP's greatest mistakes was totally removing the old character creation process - at least then (with a tiny amount of research) one could start with a fairly competent, combat-orientated 800k SP frigate pilot, with the prerequisites for Tech II small racial guns trained (and if I remember correctly, racial Frigate IV, too).

That being said, lol @ a request for a refund.

Not bothering to read responses, so this has probably already been said, but to quote the rest of the internet "You're doing it wrong".

You don't need high skills to have fun in this game. I won't deny that it's fun to fly the newest and best shiny in your hanger, but if all you do is spin in station waiting for it, then you'll never stop spinning, there's always something better.

So in the mean time, undock in whatever you have and start running tutorials, do all the new player stuff you can find, there's actually quite a bit of it out there now, much more than when I started, and I didn't stay docked for longer than it took to repair my ship and spend my latest 100k isk.

Once you finish that join Eve University, or any other similar corp that trains new players. Or start applying to a corp that specializes in what you want to do. Even if they won't let you in right away (a lot require minimum time player or SP), ask if you can get set blue so you can join them for some training and fleet up for help.

So yea, there's pleanty to do, if you still can't find anything after reading the responses here, it's not the game, it's you. This just isn't your type of game, hey, it happens. You probably won't get a refund of any kind, they offer trials for a reason, but now you know. I'd suggest using at least a few of those 28 days to undock and meet some of the players out in space before you completely give up though. You have the time, may as well use it.

I felt exactly like the OP felt when I first tried out Eve, and I quit after around 2 months.

Then... After like a year or so, I came back. Eve has a certain... charm to it even though it feels like a chore rather than a game more often than not. If you are an MMO player, you may need a transition period to get used to the idea of Eve. There is nothing remotely like it, and once you get a taste of Eve, you'll realize after some time that you are actually craving for more.

Um no. Wormholes are pretty much out of his league as well. All he can really do inside one is mine. Besides, sleepers will just spawn and destroy him while mining anyways.

Face it. Despite a few attempts by CCP, this game is still not new player friendly.

I'm sorry but you are clearly wrong.

Being new player friendly doesn't mean that there should be solo content. The OP should group up with people or join a corp. EVE is not made for people that do not like to stay with others, but it doesn't mean it isn't new player friendly.

Mining and missioning ad nauseum is a real weakness in this game for keeping people's attention spans. Especially, alone. The real fun in Eve is doing things with other people. While I'm not a big fan of corps it is where the real fun.....and pain in the buttocks....begins.

I've known people that ninja salvage when they're new. That is what kept them in the game until they could pursue more grand goals. So, give that a try.

Well for the hell of it I created a new character this afternoon and immediately looked for 'newbie options'. I pretended to be completely clueless on newbie corp chat but expressed an interest in faction warfare. Within five minutes I had been invited to a newbie training channel run by some awesome people.

Greeted. Made to feel welcome. Chatted for a bit.

Was signed up for mailing lists that gave me loads of valuable info about setting up overview, ship types, typical roles etc.

Was invited to attend a training class run by members of the newbie corp. Attended. Learned loads, with I might add half a dozen other new players. We formed fleet, practiced comms, warping, aligning, standing orders etc.

One hour later I was training racial frigate IV (CCP fix this please 9 hrs is stupid people need to get frig access immediately!). Propulsion jamming. Engineering. Some learning skills to boost willpower and perception.

The guys I hooked up with are running a roam, their usual roam, where everyone can go along on a run into low/null sec in their blob.

All within 1-2 hrs.

If I was new I'd be off and running within a week .. crucially with other new players in a team. Learning together. Exchanging advice and tips, new knowledge, insights. Fighting together. Skilling under the guidence of people who know whats good and whats not. Interactive. EVE! Not bloody agents and NPC scripts.

Admittedly the guys I hooked up with are pretty unique as a bunch of experienced players who run their ops from a newbie/NPC corp. But I doubt thats typical for new players.

The problem is 0.0 alliances dont value new players. Tackle is fine but its too weak and the lack of actual gameplay knowledge vs time taken to train people is prohibitive to welcoming new players. I honestly believe under the old system - as others have said - where people could get stuck in with core skills for what they want to do worked better. It made people instantly useful as tackle/point/scram and didnt require them to train anything to immediately go in to a frigate and start learning. Right now a lot of people can spend a week just figuring out what to do and what all the skills do and how that works etc. When they should be playing EVE.

So yeah. By chance I feel on my feet in my little test but I can understand the total opposite can happen - it did for me on my main. I ended up qutting after a couple of months btw. Like others I came back and got in to EVE but probably wouldn't have if I didnt have a certain set of complimentary real life events ..

CCP if you are reading this you really really need to get the new player orientation thing fixed. NPC's are not EVE. They suck. EVE is about feeling part of something and getting involved with real human beings. Figure out how to facilitate this please!

Why don't you extend the STAR in to new player orientation activities? I'm sure if you bunged even one of the people I worked with this afternoon a few incentives to do what they are doing with CCP backing and resources you'd be on to a winner in no time. You should seriously consider removing the arbitrary limits and clique stuff that goes with sponsored volunteer groups and get to the core of it - scouting out awesome people like I met today and building your new player experience around them. Get them in to every newbie corp chat and get them directly, relevantly working with new players. Even if thats once a day just running an op or giving a class using tools like eve voice.

Anything that gets new players together in groups, has them interact, communicate and learn the basics. Those initial relationships will grow and you have the spark of emergence there and then. From day 1. What you have now is people log in, do some menus, do some more menus, get some goodies then go mine or log off and, chances are, never come back.

This, but then several years later you might come to the realization that your first instinct was correct and that the game really isn't all that much fun.

EVE has a lot of good parts to it, but you have to be patient and you have to work at having fun in it. Above all you have to really enjoy the sort of inter-personal game-play it allows. EVE doesn't go out of its way to entertain you however and if you like solo play (and to some extent small group play) and/or PVE then EVE has very little to offer.

EVE is a niche game. There is nothing wrong with not liking EVE -- most people don't. And I don't mean that in an elitist sense as in only the enlightened gamer can enjoy EVE. It simply has a very very narrow appeal.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with this, it's new players that aren't interested in 0.0, not the other way around. Prior to my current corp I was in a very small 0.0 corp, dying in fact. We needed members any way we could, so we setup security as best as Eve would allow and started inviting ANYONE we could get out to 0.0, even if they were too new to get their API right away (i.e. the had been playing for under 72 hours). I setup guides to teach them how to use their overview to spot danger, keep local seperate, avoid warp bubbles, and offered to scout the way out for them. I purchased around 200m worth of new player skill books so they wouldn't have to run back and forth again and again to empire. Same with blueprints for basic ships and fittings.

I told them we would sell them anything they needed for empire cost, no handouts, but they would make pleanty of isk flying with us. How will we do that as new players? they asked. You can have all my salvage, I'll reprocess it for you and give it back since I have scrapmetal, you can sit on grid during ratting, you don't even have to shoot. You will make isk like crazy for a new player, millions at a time!

All we wanted was to get some out there and show them that there is TONS of isk to be earned, that it isn't a bad, scary, mean place where you die instantly, and get them flying with our team. After a while they would find their own place in combat roles for defending our space, but the molding would come later.

Guess how many showed up? I think I got about 4 of them to actually send in an app, all of which were accepted, and the players either never signed on again or dropped from the corp shortly after, none ever came out to 0.0. I eventually gave up the campaign as a waste of isk and time.

NEW PLAYERS READ THIS! No, you probably won't get into the best corp in the game right away, but there are those in 0.0 who -want- you out there with them. If the idea interests you, but you aren't out there yet and are instead spinning your ship in station, it's nobodys fault but your own.

First off pro tip Hard game is hard (eve)... okay wow is an insult because it is much easier than eve, you can't cut it in eve so, I'm sure ccp thanks you for the money (again going on the "not so smart" theme why did you pay for a game you did not like? rofl)... and can I have your stuffz? It may not be much but ;)

But ya you totally showed what a wow noob is... and rofl @ everyone in eve is unfriendly... I do have to ask... can you send me that pvp macro that does all the pvp work for me? Be sweet to have... would make eve like a space movie!

Ah I found why wow is so good this must be it

I'm completely sympathetic with the OP. I've been "playing" this game for nearly two years now. For me, I put playing in quoted, because I feel like all I do is sit in this stupid spaceship, waiting for walking in stations.

I feel like there isn't much I can do except shoot at other people who are also trapped in their spaceships.

I simply don't know what to do, can I get a refund for the 54 days left on my subscription?

Your looking at this game completely wrong. EVE doesn't instantly gratify you. It makes you work, work and well work. You just have the tools to make a name for yourself. You aren't railroaded to an inevitable destination. You have a CHOICE on what to do. Be another guy trying to get by? Or take the reigns and build a name for yourself and rise above the rest.

Again this game might not be for you if you feel a game needs to gratify you constantly. Plus don't do things you don't enjoy. Mining is just a means of making isk. Isk is for funding combat or business.

Well, i think all bored people should visit the system called 'dead end' and go to planet 5, moon 5, and go 'ooooo' at the wonder that is there

After that you can go visit the eve gate in 'New Eden) (its only a few jumps away)

it is in norty space however, so you will need: an updated clone, a fast frigate (atron, executioner, condor or slasher) an inertia stabilizer, and as many warp core stabilizers as you can fit. (or a shuttle, either is good)

Perfectly safe :)
