Hey I just finally paid for the game after many failed trial account attempts to get into the game. I discovered Eve mon which helped out a lot on finding out the best route for talents which was what caused me to stop playing before. Now I feel like I am missing something. I have been playing about everyday for the last month so far I feel I have gotten pretty far. Just got my first mining barge and I am mining a ton and getting decent money, but now what? After mining in high sec space what else could I be doing? Should I be joining a corp? Should I start fighting? What is the best logical step to take next? Any help would be great and thanks in advanced.

eve is a sandbox, do whatever you want.

in my opinion might have been a bad choice in careers, a lot of new pilots take it either because it seems like you earn decent isk on it, or because its easy to do.

there is a lot of other professions in eve, like running missionins, salvaging wrecks, social engineering, corp theft, scamming, ratting in nullsec, exploring plexes and anomalies in highsec and so on.

there is not a set route for anyone in eve, and asking someone to make a route for you might seem a bit silly as you might end up growing tired of it.

but you should try joining a corp, EVE is a multiplayer game, you might want to play it as such

Welcome to eve

The essence of the sandbox is that you can do anything you want but there is always an opportunity cost. If you choose to do this, you will not be choosing to do that. You can choose to do both a little bit and neither very well or you can choose to do just one very well.

Choosing to not make your choice of specialty too soon is also a choice. Sometimes it is well worth it to give a few things a try just to see what is out there and then to come back to what you like the best. The worst that will happen is that you will essentially start over but if you are doing what you enjoy then the game is worth playing right?

If you haven't done so already, I would suggest completing the missions from the career agents under the help button. There are 5 agents now so if you did some in the past you might have more to do now. Good way to dabble in several different industries.

Second, you may want to look up EVE University. Join the E-UNI channel to find out more. This will give you the chance to explore a broader portion of the game. Even if you are still going to be a miner, it is good to know some combat as your corp may get wardec'd and you may need to spend a week fighting instead of mining. E-UNI will also give you time to make some contacts and possibly find the right corp while you learn. Also, simply becoming more useful and experienced in general will make you more desirable to any corp out there.

So yes, I think you should definitely be looking to join a corp. Eve is a very dangerous place and you will greatly limit how much if it you can get to and what you can do if you don't have folks to run with. But make sure you find the right corp for you because your corp with greatly effect what you do and how you do in the game.

Hello TestyTester, sounds like ********* (male gential sack the balls inside em) just an observation Neutral

I'm new to the game, only a few days oldVery Happy well i studyed the forums & many stickys for a couple of months to get a feel for the game & develop a fundemental knowledge base so i can progress when i made the final crunch and sign up Cool

I discovered the core aspect of the game is blowing things up Idea

I'm gonna be a demolition expert in the art of destruction Twisted Evil if it can be blown up, i'm gonna blow it up...

Simple as..... pie

Ya see, blowing things up gives peeps things to do Wink like replace whats been blown up, this leads to manufactorying style of profession to build the bits, i destroy for the pretty explosionsLaughing Then we just need some muppet to supply the raw materials, so that these bits can be built. Rinse 'n' Repeat

I guess it really don't answer your question Question but i'm gonna blow things up & being in a corp will more than likely help meh Very Happy

I'd like to have your babies clone you - several times. We need more new players who actualy read the forums.

And we need players who accept and understand the "blow things up" part as an integral part of the game. (for pvP and for PvE players)

Give my corp a try. We've been mainly mining, so you already have a useful skill. We're getting ready for some major stuff that is pretty new to us, so you get to learn, and we have several players experienced at marketing, PvE, PvP and basic piracy.

We don't consider ourselves to be the end of the line for players. Drop in, learn what you like, make some ISK, and if something else appeals to you, we'll help you with it any way we can.

I'm actually in Acy's corp and it's been a great learning experience, if you do give it a try I would be happy to run missions or work on any isk making ventures if you want the company.

Dude, i feel your pain. I'm new to the game as well and i think this game does a **** poor job of guiding the player.

I was lucky enough to find a good corporation to join early on and those guys have helped me a lot, so if nothing else i'd suggest finding a good corp... You can even join ours if you want.

I think CCP need to crate some sort of mentor agent. You should be able to choose a career path from the agent and then he/she will suggest skills to learn, agents to work for and ships to buy etc.

Agreed. But believe it or not, it used to be even worse.

But Eve is a sandbox. You decide what you want to do. You set your own goalposts. You wouldn't want someone in real life telling you what job to do, where to live, who to marry would you?

Kind of... I wouldn't want an estate agent to pick my new home for me but i would like them to make suggestions so that i could make an informed decision, it you know what i mean.

It's like sandbox games such as gta or fallout 3. Initially it wouldn't work without the general story that you follow but once you get a feel for the world and the things you can do in it, you can branch off and do your own thing.

Hopefully they can make things easier for new players through incarna. Is there a dedicated forum for that by the way?
