Edited by: Aralyn Cormallen on 18/08/2010 09:15:04 Regardless of the actual result of the award, this thread has done its job. I see three Dev blogs on lag in the last 5 days. Does anyone believe we would have seen even one of these if it hadn't been for this thread? I sincerely doubt it.
Now, these blogs could just be hot air that achieves nothing, we still need to see an actual live improvement, but its a start, and its a start we wouldn't have seen if it hadn't have been for the "whining" as some of you choose to put it.
So, you guys can posture as much as you like about how you think the "vocal minority got ignored", but the fact is we didn't. This was never about denying CCP an award, it was about getting them to seriously and honestly sort this (and many other issues) out. It was about giving them a wake-up call. Them losing the award would certainly have done that, but it seems it wasn't nessercery, they are at least appearing to have got the message.
So troll, and counter-troll each other as much as you like now the dust is settling, it doesn't matter a lot now. Ultimatly the award was irrelevant. Getting the message across and getting some action was always the prize we were going for, and thats one that we seem to have won. And its not just us "whiners" that have won, those of you opposed to us have won too; if this stuff gets sorted we are all winners, even if you lot hadn't been playing to the same game plan.

Regardless of the actual dev blogs pertaining to fixing the lag issue, I will believe it when I see it. I have now been away from Eve for the last 2 months, other than logging in and setting skills, and to be honest I don't miss it like I used to.
Granted I am burned out from work, but with the way PI screwed the markets and such, I don't have a great desire to log in. I am just a bit tired of the bugs and watching the community being blown off by CCP. Enjoy the game everyone, but it isn't the same as what it was in beta.

It would appear the voting is closed. Weather or not eve won anything is inconsequential. The more important portion of this thread is that CCP should take notice. Just because all 300+k didn't post, doesn't mean they didn't read and agree with a lot of the fault pointed out here.
I for one vary rarely if ever post on these forums, but i do quite a bit of reading. I can understand some peoples trepidation at posting on this thread, as well as those who agree, but just can't be bothered re-iterating what's already been said. The fact that so many (84 pages at current count) have opted to voice their opinion should make you at least take a look.
That being said, i'll state that Dev blogs to me are useless.. Instead of spending all that time typing out what you are going to fix, why not spend that valuable dev time on actually fixing it.
I can sit here and tell you till I'm blue in that face that my current SSH session isn't connected because i haven't typed in the password for root yet, and i could tell you that i plan on typing in root's password, and how easy it would be to type it in, and explain to you that typing in the root's password would allow me to complete my connection to my server via SSH... or...
hrm... look at that... took less time than explaining it to you, took less time that you reading... hell, took less time than me spell-checking it... but there you have it, I'm logged in as root on my server via SSH..
Stop wasting your time, our money, and your Dev's skill set. STFU and fix stuff already..
Then, instead of saying: " this is what we're going to do " You could be saying in patch notes: " this is what we've done "
Notice the difference, one has an air of accomplishment, while the other is full of regret..
BTW, i didn't vote for you.. I was amicable though, i didn't vote against you either. Now that the scolding is over, close the browser Mr.Dev, and get back to work, there's a few errant ; " ' : and .'s floating around in your database / python

Post it on Twitter, however, and it's 'breaking news' which will spread around the world before lunch. By the time you get around to telling them it was a lie, it will have taken on a life of it's own because Twitter can't possibly be wrong, and Justin Beiber will have to issue a public statement to snap everyone out of it. |

I too speak for everyone who has ever played an mmo, and every one who has ever sat infront of a computer to congratulate CCP on this overwhelming victory in the face of massive adversery, that clearly does prove that Eve Online is the best game ever created in the history of the universe. sigh. |

Well a few new blogs, which sadly, appear to just be ccp repeating stuff it's already said.
They seem to have missed the point completely. When people say "fix the lag" they mean fix whatever you introduced that made the game go from silky smooth to horribly crash and burn. Right after the fleet finder was introduced eve made this downturn. Similarly my character sheet has been fine for years, yet the second I press skill queue eve locks up for a good 3/4 seconds.
None of the blogs have touched to the years of neglect either. As a pvper I've been lucky, my area of the game has had some attention, but the negatives outweigh those. Miners have simply been ignored, unless you count macros, for years, plexes have had some tweaking, but older ones (particularly sansha) were designed at a time when damage mods didn't stack and as such there are ones in lowesc that have overseers requiring double the dps to take down as an 8/10 overseer.
I could go on, but the point is people start playing eve for a reason. If you don't continue to update that reason, e.g. mining, then they have no reason to stay. When a 3 month old player asked me if it was true that eccm implants don't work with eccm subs, and I had to explain they never did, they were broken on the test server and never fixed (much like the pirate detection array), he didn't bother continuing to month 4. It's like hitting dock, then coming back after an hour to find yourself sitting outside station. That's been a bug for over 6 years. |

You are really, really stupid if you think CCP was happy about this thread. The award means nothing, the bad press across a dozen MMO sites and the mass user outrage look awful. Hard to think when your head is up the developer's bum, no? |

There is no mass user outrage, just a bunch of neckbeards with a lot of accounts, they coincidently are running a few trash mmo websites, that no one reads anyways! |

You are really, really stupid if you think the pathetic, childish emo-raging in this thread meant anything. We'll see the impact of the "bad press from fansites written by disgruntled, noisy fans" over time. My guess is that there will be none. EvE will continue to grow, CCP will continue to tune, tweak and perfect their game, and all the sad, sad little people complaining in this thread will continue to subscribe. It'll be devastating. |

What if they used to dig decent ditches that allowed for a reasonable amount of water to flow without problems but recently the ditches they dig are half assed and now back up with water closing the roads? Oh and instead of fixing the ditches they just did half assed they start the next project leaving the previous roads to flood over and over again. Sounds like they must be union ditch diggers to me. |
